SEC/B12 Basketball Challenge ended up 5-5, it was all done in 1 weekend. Kind of a neat thing IMHO.

lol...Coach K got into it last night with the Duke student section, telling them to shut up! They were doing a chant that they apparently do for any former player/coach who comes to Cameron with the opposition. But Coach thought he heard something else, and after the game he apologized to the students.

Coach K scolds Crazies following Capel chant

More bad news for the Buckeyes this morning. Our freshman point guard, D.J. Carton, Mr Iowa basketball his senior year, has withdrawn from the team. Apparently he has been suffering from mental illness for the last two years. He will remain on full scholarship but this may partially explain what has caused such a turn around for our season after getting off to an amazing start.

Sorry to hear about that Don, I hope he can get better with medication and/or counseling and return to normal life. Mental problems are no joke and can ruin lives and families.

I'm glad to see the school and team doing what's best for the young man. As Terry mentioned, mental illness is no joke. I'm glad they aren't pushing him to compete.

Gators a big disappointment this season, here's hoping that we can get our act together by the big dance.

Ohio State won over Michigan last night in Ann Arbor 61-58 in a rough and tumble game that was close all the way.

I was listening to Coach K talk about College Basketball and he made an interesting comment, that it wasn't the one and done's that get drafted by the NBA that hurt the game. He said it's all the guys who leave for the Pro's who aren't drafted by the NBA, that they go to the G-League or Europe, where as in the past those guys would stay the full 4 years and graduate before going to the Pros. That is what is hurting the quality of play in college basketball.

An interesting point of view by Coach K! There are not many senior players anymore if you look at the rosters.

I wonder if leagues like the XFL (if they are successful) will do the same thing to football?

kp... it probably would, but those leagues never hold on.

I believe that the XFL will take high school grads and college players not yet eligible for the NFL draft. If they are successful for a couple of years I could see some college players taking advantage of that

College players maybe. HS players definitely not. Unlike the NBA developmental leagues, HS players are not even close to being physically and mentally ready to play the professional game of football with older and more physically mature players. Never mind that the XFL players are not at the same level as the NFL. They still are older and stronger than kids coming out of HS, no matter how phenomenal they might have been at the HS level.

    I would agree,
Sid at least initially. If they get established and players are moving from the XFL to the NFL then it becomes more attractive

Terry, I would guess the NFL scouts are attending the XFL games similar to how MLB scouts look for prospects in the minor leagues.

I see that Krebs Dayton Flyers are up to #6 in the rankings. He warned us to keep an eye on them!

Longhorns blown out today by a mediocre Iowa State squad in Ames. I don't see how Shaka Smart is the coach next season.
