Huskers, Hurricanes to square off in 2014, 2015 BY RICH KAIPUIST WORLD-HERALD BUREU LINCOLN — Nebraska and Miami, opponents for five bowl games in the last 25 years, have agreed to play a home-and-home regular-season football series in 2014 and 2015. NU would be scheduled to host the Hurricanes on Sept. 20, 2014. The Huskers then would travel to Miami on Sept. 12, 2015. The contract is finalized but not yet signed by either school. Nebraska already has home-and-home series set with Virginia Tech (2008-09), Washington (2010-11), UCLA (2012-13) and Tennessee (2016-17). Among other future games, NU confirmed Wednesday that it will host Fresno State in 2011 and 2016, and play at Fresno State in 2014. Jeff Jamrog, NU's assistant athletic director for football, said the Huskers expect to formally announce the games with Miami and Fresno State, along with another future series, perhaps as early as today. Nebraska and Miami last met in the Rose Bowl after the 2001 season, when the Hurricanes secured the national championship with a 37-14 win and evened the all-time series at 5-5. Miami owned a 3-1 record against NU in Orange Bowls after the 1983, 1988, 1991 and 1994 seasons. The Huskers and Hurricanes played regular-season contests in 1951, 1953, 1975 and 1976, the last three in Lincoln. Their other meeting came in the 1962 Gotham Bowl.
