Looks like I jumped the gun on Congratulating Michael. Sorry for that Bobda! Last one in the contest to enter and takes home the title. Nice job for sure.
Congratulations, Bobda! Way to come through at the end. It took courage to pick UVA after their historic first-round upset last year.
Congrats and thanks Bob. I entered at the last minute because I really hadn't followed college bb much this year. I was kind of embarrassed with my luck.
No doubt Kp that the SEC tourney doesn't carry the importance of the Big Dance but Aurbun winning the SEC Tourney probably advanced their seeding by a couple of spots. If you didn't see the non-call it was a blatant miss by the refs on the last play of the game.... as opposed to the slight contact foul called on them in the Final Four that beat them. Now making all three free throws was onviously a very tall order not many shooters can pull off in that situation... so give that Va kid a ton of credit.
There were a lot of close calls all throughout the tourney that impacted games. Slo Mo replay and all the different angles has changed things. That play where the UVA kid knocked the ball out of the Tech kids hands fighting for a rebound, it was so close even with slo mo you couldn't really tell but they went with the call on the court. The slap of the ball out of bounds late in the game when the Tech kid was racing up court looked like the same thing, but slo mo and angles convinced them that he'd slapped the ball off the dribblers pinky and reversed the call. I think that last call in the old days would have never been questioned.
Terry I only brought up the non-call from Auburn-Fla because it was so obvious that it was reported all over Sports Center that night as a flagrant screw up by the refs.... and then wouldn't you know that the team benefitting from the ref's forgiving attitude would be on the bad end of a foul call impacting their game with Va. It was a damn miracle that Va. is the national champ between that foul call on Auburn, the kid making all three foul shots afterward and the double-dribble off the leg non-call. They did pull away from TT last night night but I agree that reversing that slap out of the TT kid's hand and giving the ball to Va. was not very clear and was a huge call down the the stretch that helped the Cavs.
Guilty on some Gatoring Corey but Auburn was an easy mark because of what happened in the SEC semi-final......
If you didn't see it: compared to the Va. game; The foul call that will overshadow the Virginia-Auburn Final Four game
Corey it's a non-factor for me.... wasn't really planning on UF to with the SEC Tourney or go that far in the NCAAs. But I didn't cry either when the Tigers were called for that pansy foul ( compared to their non-called mugging of the UF player ) and Va. beat em.
