yeah I don't think it's a good idea to tell your players to hide corona virus symptoms, just the same as it's not good to tell your players to ignore the typical injuries that happen during a season. You want to know if they have a shoulder issue, a knee issue or any other medical problem that they might have at anytime. Players health needs to be #1 concern of the staff, in the past there have been allegations that this staff or that staff bullied the medical staff to clear a player to play when he wasn't really ready and that's just not right. It's happened on both the college and pro level.

From the serious..players health to the funny in regards to recruiting.

Former UGA star Isaiah Wilson has commented on how he ended up at Georgia. He said he de-committed from Alabama because Nick Saban never hugged him, and that Michigan apparently was in the thick of it till Jim Harbaugh came to his house wearing football cleats and walked all over his mama's wood floors with them. She wasn't happy and that was the end of his considering Michigan! At least he didn't want to sleep over with his cleats on! As far as Saban not hugging people..why am I not shocked!!

Former Georgia star Isaiah Wilson details what Nick Saban, Jim Harbaugh did to lose his commitment

Well the Big 10 has had a Players group form something along the lines of the Pac12 players group and a list of demands has been made.

Among the Big Ten players' demands:

    • Third-party, approved by players, to administer COVID testing and to enforce all COVID-19 health and safety standards

    • Sufficient penalties for noncompliance.

    • Mandate for athletics personnel to report suspected violations.

    • Whistleblower protections for athletics personnel and college athletes reporting a suspected violation.

    • Ban the use of COVID-19 liability waivers.

    • Automatic medical redshirt for any player who misses any competitions due to a positive test or a mandatory quarantine due to contact tracing.

    • Preserve athletic eligibility, scholarship, and roster spot for any player who opts out of athletic participation or is unable to play more than 40% of their scheduled season due to COVID-19 or season postponement/cancellation.

    • Coverage for all out-of-pocket medical expenses related to COVID-19 (both short-term and long-term) incurred by active college athletes.
"Given that the NCAA and conference leadership have not asked for our input, we feel compelled to call for clarity, commitment, and action regarding our common-sense proposal," the Big Ten players wrote. "We have started a dialogue in good faith with the Big Ten and hope that the NCAA will follow suit. Given the short time frame, and with our season at stake, this conversation must happen now.

"Big Ten players follow Pac-12, form unity group

FCED79B1-4E9C-46A5-B184-09BC1242E4E8.png I hope the kid was trying to be funny for if this is true, this would be Exhibit 27456 that Jimmy is more than just a little crazy.

There were internet reports that his sister got an admin. job at Georgia. Was that confirmed or denied in his list of reasons for selecting Georgia?

In Florida a 9 year old and a 14 year old died from Covid in the last few weeks. College players are adult men.... and of course they can and do spread the virus easily and both deaths and hospitalizations are way above what the flu brings for the general population plus there are signs of long term damage to the lungs and heart of even healthy people. If it was just a cold they play on without such drastic measures that they are now taking.
The late Herman Cain may have caught the virus from a 22 year old at the Tulsa rally... who knows? So of course community spread is a concern with these players.
As long as a segment of the population continues to believe this is "just a cold" this virus will be running our lives and in a terrible way.

Yeah he never mentioned that! Shocking I know, but that particular recruiting ploy is not uncommon. I think I've read that Shea Patterson went to Ole' Miss after his brother was hired as a coach and implication was that no way his brother gets that job unless he brings his little brother with him.

Danny Mannings father famously was hired by Roy Williams after Danny verballed to KU. Lots of other stories like that I imagine.

Michigan in past recruiting wars somehow found a way to offer university jobs to coaches of a targeted recruit so will not clutch my pearls if Georgia actually did this.

MCG, be careful your comments are close to belonging in the Back Room and if you push it just a little bit your next comment in the wrong forum could result in these last two disappearing as well.

Bill.... right now Covid-19 is controlling the world of sports as we know it.

It's impossible to discuss what's happening in any sport without first dealing with what is going on with the virus. With the out of control spread things are looking dicey.
I'm afraid we get 2 or 3 games into the CFB season and one team or another or several teams test positive and then their schedule and that of the teams they were supposed to play is shot to hell.
You can get away with rescheduling Cardinals vs. Tigers in MLB but that won't work if you are cancelling Georgia at Alabama or Auburn at Texas A&M.
As much as wishing it were just a cold that players will play through it's not going to be treated that way by players, coaches, ADs and school presidents.

At this point, I'm ready for them to cancel the season and tell all these whiners to hit the bricks, or pay their own way for a year.
Then come back and tell me you're not getting something out of this deal.

Now that the B1G Ten schedule has been released, I am getting my hopes up for some football this season. Playing the team up north in October will be different for sure, but here's hoping we can have a season to watch via ESPN/Hulu.:) I am definitely planning on the Yahoo Pick'em contest once the information is released by Yahoo!

Yikes! At a time when college athletic departments have cut salaries and staff, including pay cuts to football head coaches, Alabama gave Sark a big raise to 2.5M annually to be the OCoord.

I read that this morning, football salaries are out of sight, at least in the power 5 conferences.

uh oh.... Harbaugh might have poked the Bear! :)

During a conference call among Big Ten coaches on Monday, Michigan's Jim Harbaugh reportedly interrupted Ohio State's Ryan Day and accused the Buckeyes of breaking rules regarding on-field instruction.

Harbaugh asked Day about a photo that purportedly showed Buckeyes assistant Al Washington working with Ohio State's linebackers. NCAA rules don't permit on-field instruction until Friday.

"How about I worry about my team and you worry about yours?" Day told Harbaugh, according to Bucknuts.com.

During an Ohio State team meeting later Monday, according to Bucknuts, Day purportedly told his players that the Wolverines better hope for a mercy rule this season because his team was "going to hang 100 on them."

Micha Parsons an All American LB for Penn State has opted out for the season. He is likely a high first round NFL draft pick.

Rondale Moore, one of the most exciting players in the Big 10 has opted out for Purdue. He'll go to the NFL.

I'm gonna say the Michigan defense will be a bit fired up for that one..... if they get to play it.

All these stars opting out futher dilutes a season that's already saddled with an asterisk.

This would be a good year for some team like Georgia to finally get their national title*:) out of the way.
