Was listening to ESPNU this am on the way to the office. They were talking about how all that is going on is going to impact the play. It's always been a given that the defense is ahead of the offense early in training camps. They said that is even more pronounced this year due to the crazy schedule that teams have had, no 7 on 7 drills this summer, no Spring Drills, and many teams have experienced interruptions in their practice schedules due to positive tests and just that everything is harder with the protocols and all that goes on right now. They said they expect that it will take teams 4 or 5 games before their offenses get in gear and that we should expect a lot of defense dominated games early on in the schedule.
Good point. In that instance, staying permanently "altered" would have to be the goal for a year to avoid noticing.
Well now they are going to play HS Football in Michigan! Indiana is playing HS Football, Ohio is playing HS football, I'll bet Neb is playing HS football, now Mich is playing HS Football. How many Big 10 states are not playing HS football? Michigan reverses field, will allow high school football this fall
Presently, Illinois, Maryland and Minnesota are the only BT states that moved high school football from the fall to spring. Wisconsin allows a school the option of playing either in the fall or spring and roughly 70% of the schools will play in the fall.
B12 has issued some guidelines for the season. If you have at least 53 players, including 7 OL, 4 interior DL and 1 Qb you have to play or forfeit. If you have fewer than 53 players and don't have the OL, DL and Qbs it will be a no contest if it can't be rescheduled. Less than 53 players but the requisite OL, DL and Qbs you have the option to play.
Harbaugh attended a meeting with the parents and some players about the season being canceled. Said Michigan could be ready in 2 weeks to play.
Big Ten Chancellors and Presidents to meet today with medical sub committee. A vote to play this fall may follow or in the near future. Wait and see has been the snail progress.
Pac12 is making noise that they might play as well. Both of them say one of the reasons for the change is that there are more and better tests available and that will help to monitor almost daily the status of the players.
