In short <r>It is Will's breakdown of the professional game into basic elements and examining why some succeed and others fail.<br/> <br/> If you really want to gain a strong perspective on the preparation and 'what' exactly makes winners/losers in the professional game... this is THE book to read.<br/> <br/> It should be mandatory reading for baseball fans who want to consider themselves knowledgeable about the modern game.<br/> <br/> Some people say that the book is a tad windy and over-analyzes things. Then again, those people don't understand just how hard it is to hit a major league curve ball either.<br/> <br/> <br/> <URL url="http://www.harpercollins.com/books/9780060973728/Men_at_Work/index.aspx"><s></s><LINK_TEXT text="http://www.har...0973728/Men_at_Work/index.aspx</LINK_TEXT><e></e></URL></r>
I really should read that as I like Will's writing. I understand that, philosophically, his approach is very different from the Beane/Moneyball way of looking at the game. Not that that makes him wrong. ~Matt
well <t>the one thing i've learned in baseball is that there is very seldom 'one right way' to do things.</t>
