It's been all over the internet so most likely you've already seen this but a local kid at Strake Jesuit ran a record 100M in a Regional last Saturday. He ran it in 9.98 and it's the fastest in HS history. I read that nobody in the world has ever run that fast under the age of 20. Now the world record is Usain Bolt's 9.58 back in 2009. But most 100m runners of any note these days are not white. This kid is white. He's quite the track star and like Carl Lewis is also good at the Long Jump. But you need to watch his video, he literally crushes his competition like he was Bolt. He's headed to UGA to run track.
He was out of sync for the first half of the race. As his coaching gets better he will just get faster.
Watch this anchor leg by Boling in the Texas 6A 4x400m final. He also won the 100m in the fastest HS time ever at 10.13 , and also won the Long Jump by a foot or more. I hope this kid can continue to grow into the an Olympic winner.
That's amazing! His running style makes him look like he could run that way all day. he must have incredible leg and upper body strength to put on that kind of chase. Plus, based on the announcer's comments about the field, this was top flight competition. I'm with Terry. I hope he makes the 2020 Olympic team.
Over on InsideTexas there was a poster who suggested that he could turn pro instead of going to college and that he might develop faster if he didn't have to go to class and be impacted by the college rules regarding how much time you can spend on your sport. He also said that a kid (Kalon Barnes) who recently chose to go to Baylor who was also sort of a Track prodigy was offered 5M to turn pro. I can't find anything on google search about that though. But it was talked about a lot, but one poster put it in perspective, that as much as he has accomplished at the HS level, he's right now not even close to being an Olympian. He needs a few years of growth and development.
