I agree Tom. The unfortunate thing here is that TB could have a lot of friends here if he chose to do so. But he chooses not to.
I agree Bill. I actually met Rodney and his family. I think you did as well. We had a very enjoyable few hours together. I don't know the exact point at which his outlook changed. I think it was around the time that he had a life threatening health issue a few years back... an aortic dissection if memory serves. I don't know if the two are related or not. I wish I did know.
Judging by the amount of mispelled words and punctuation errors, I suspect Demon Rum had a role in that self-deprecating display. Probably the last we'll see of Rodney.
I think you are right about the last we'll see of Rodney. That is a shame. Rodney proved that he could be a valued member here when he first came on the Skybox. He showed that the attitude that was influenced by the other two Georgia guys that he hung with on Prodigy could be a thing of the past. Why he reverted back to his old ways is beyond me. For everyone's information, he has made no attempt to contact us. His choice. Some of us... most of us have 19+ years invested in this little group. For Rodney, that is about half his life. For JO'Co, that is approximately 1/3 of his life. It is hard to throw that away. Hopefully things will change.
It's probably right that we have seen/heard the last from Rodney. That does leave me sad. Like Tom I met Rodney and his wife. Two different times, once before a Georgia - Florida football game then a second time we met him and his wife for lunch and spent the afternoon with them. I enjoyed both encounters. However like Tom said something changed a couple of years ago. I know his feelings about the war but somehow it went deeper. I can't remember the last time he posted about sports that it wasn't in a negative vein toward some team or player. He ragged on Tennessee a lot, somehow Tim Tebow was not only undeserving of the Heisman but TB felt the need to knock his accomplishments. I kept hoping we might see the old Skybox Tailback but it just didn't happen. It's sad all the way around, but there is no way we can allow the kind of stuff he posted with his last two posts here, and that has nothing to do with his insult of me. That was mild when compared to the other post. I hope he might see his way clear to want to come back and be a contributing member. If so all he has to do is contact a moderator, in this case I would suggest Tom first, and convince us that he can follow Skybox philosophy. But as said above I don't really expect that to happen.
To put in perspective Mark Richt's signing of the bomb, here is a brief excerpt from a series of diary-like articles Charlie Weis wrote for the South Bend Tribune:
From Charlie Weis on the trip. I think Tubberville is Tailbacks favorite coach...or used to be that is...
