Interesting...the question to me would be, is the burden of the punishment in proportion to the benefit of the misdeed? Is sidelining Harbaugh and Co for a few games and not having the benefit of his infinite wisdom as burdensome to M as them being able to call the perfect play or the optimal coverage is to their opponents. I don't think so.....I do believe Harbaugh is a fine coach, but he's for damn sure not omniscient nor clairvoyant.

In the 2nd half of our game last year they ran 33 plays for 342 yards before garbage time. In the first half we ran 48 plays for 320, 20 points and zero turnovers. 2nd half, 32 plays for 147 yards, 2 picks 3 points. That's pretty damn good play selection and one of the most extraordinary performance turnarounds - offensively and defensively - I've ever seen. Now, UGA gashed us pretty good in the 2nd half too in their comeback and I don't think M was on their headset. That said, seeing that guy on the clip above, the sideline response and subsequent play results makes one think that perhaps it wasn't coincidental

I'll give UGA #1, nobody has beaten them in a couple of years, but I don't get UM being #2 over Ohio State who went to South Bend and beat a good Irish team in a hard fought contest and then handled another top 10 program in Penn State at home.

Buckeyes based on the the field of play deserve to be ranked over UM

FWIW Sagarin’s computer has Michigan #1, OSU #2, Bama #3, Ga #4, and Penn State #5. Go figger.

Yeah I don't think Alabama is top 5 but I don't think Michigan is no 1 either.

It seems like every team that has been caught doing something wrong has said the same thing. Some get hammered, some get a slap on the wrist and some get off with nothing.

I'm really don't understand why colleges haven't been allowed to use radios...

It seems to me it would easier to intercept radio transmissions than decode those signs. All you would need is the frequency. Then your DC could sit there with a headset on and hear every call.

I don't doubt that "every" school puts forth some effort to decode the signals coming in from the opponents sideline during the game. Further, I don't doubt that are some that have taken the next step to spy on their rivals be it in practice or games even though it is specifically prohibited. What I do doubt is that there are many others that have gone to such extensive lengths, if the allegations are true, as this guy has done with the network, videos and all the games for several years both in and out of conference. Maybe I'm naive and I could be wrong, but I just don't believe it, it's just too easy to get caught

George, it is even easier to get busted when our super spy uses his personal credit card to buy the tickets!

PS to board: I posted the Quinn quote not as an exculpatory reason but because of my surprise that a Domer icon is one of the most public advocates for Michigan. It is not as if the fan base of both schools have a long history of cordiality.

kp, all ya need is decent encryption, and intercepting the signal is pointless...

Bobda, there seems to be some traction behind the rumor that fired ex OC Matt Weiss is involved in the current issue. The notion being that the data that Weiss was trying to access was the video footage from the Stalions operation. My guess is that it could simply be more internet nonsense or is there more to it? If so, that's some pretty spicy sauce.

Terry, that theory has been mentioned on M boards. But, it really is all speculation as the Weiss matter is supposedly still being investigated by law enforcement.
