Looks like Washington State fired their head coach for not following the university Covid vaccine mandate.
The next two games for the Buckeyes will be televised night games at Indiana and Penn State here in Columbus by ABC. Should be interesting games as we head down the back stretch.
Played basketball in a pickup game against him one time at the Co-Rec...talk about bouncing off an immovable wall.
Only 1 ranked team, SMU, playing on either Thursday or Friday Night. SMU having a great year so far and are one of the roadblocks to Cincy having an undefeated season. Their QB is a OU transfer and he's killing it at SMU. They play Tulane a team that almost beat OU but since then everybody has beaten them, that was the peak of their season. Saturday.. 1. Georgia ...gets the week off to prepare for the Worlds Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party. 2. Cincinnati @ Navy Not the Navy of a few years ago when they really were a challenge for teams. This Navy squad is bad, they can't score. I won't be shocked if Cincy shuts them out. 3. OU @ KU Pretty close to an open date for the Sooners. Caleb Williams will pad his stats and I imagine Spencer Rattler will see the 4th qtr action to mop up the game, a long way from Heisman front runner. 4. Alabama vs Tenn Tide is back and rolling. Tenn coming off an emotional loss at home, might be tough for them to bounce back, esp if Hooker isn't ready to go at QB. Tenn fans that make the trip will no doubt be behaved in Tuscaloosa! 5. Ohio State @ IU The Hoosiers gave Michigan State a battle last week, doubt if they can do the same to Ohio State. CJ Stroud has found his groove and the Buckeyes will put up a lot of points. 6. Michigan vs Northwestern Wildcats are in a rebuilding mode and the Wolverines are likely to take them to the Big House this weekend. 7. Penn State vs Illinois Not sure what the status is of PSU QB Sean Clifford but they won't need him for the Illini. 8. Oklahoma State @ Iowa State Has Iowa State finally got things sorted out? They were a pre-season top 10 team with 20+ starters returning including the QB Brock Purdy. But they haven't played like it. Oklahoma State is a surprise team so far, the comeback win over Texas in Austin was a big boost for them. They are pretty salty on defense and even though they have a veteran QB in Spencer Sanders he's not really playing all that well. They have been winning with defense. This is a huge game for both teams if they want to make it to the Big 12 title game. 9. Michigan State has the week off to prepare for their trip to the Big House. Mel Tucker is the leading candidate for Coach of the Year. 10. Oregon @ UCLA The Ducks are the only hope the Pac12 has at this point in the season. Must win game for both teams. UCLA on a little roll with 2 straight wins. Ducks OCoord Joe Moorehead had emergency surgery a couple of weeks ago and this will be his first game back. Gameday will be at the Rose Bowl. Ole Miss vs LSU ..interesting game. Ole Miss coming off that win at Knoxville, Matt Corral according to Kiffen is a bit beat up. But they have a lot to play for at Ole Miss. LSU knows Coach O is gone, they are down a bunch of players. Will the team rally again like they did vs the Gators for Coach O or will they be thinking about next year in the NFL. Even with all the missing players, as a roster LSU probably still the better team, but the game is played on the Field. LSU mailing it in will be a big win for Ole Miss. Notre Dame vs USC Irish favored, U$C with a lot of speed at the skill positions and good QB play will be a tough out for the Irish. I don't think with our patch work OL and questionable QB play we'll have any easy wins no matter who we play. USC with an interim HC. But it's still a rivalry game and USC has had a week to prepare, the Irish have as well. We'll see if the patch work Irish can get off to a good start and not have to come from behind with the late win. Clemson @ Pitt If you can believe it, Clemson is the underdog. Pitt's QB Kenny Pickett is having a terrific year. Clemson has had a good defense and nobody has scored a lot of points on them. But they have been terrible on offense. In spite of that Dabo has stuck with his young QB. I'd expect not a lot of scoring here. San Diego State @ Air Force. USAFA has a pretty good team this year, same old same old, long drives to wear you out and limit your possessions on offense. They also have one of their better defenses. San Diego State is undefeated and could run the table and be poised to Challenge for the Group of 5 New Years Six slot, esp if Cincy falters somewhere. Have to get past Air Force first. Wisconsin@Purdue Big game in the Big 10 West, Purdue now holds the tie breaker over Iowa if they can just win out. Wisconsin continues to look anemic on offense, against Army they could only muster 20 points at home. Purdue is playing very well on defense, if the same defense shows up that played Iowa, Wisconsin QB Grant Mertz will have as bad a day as the Iowa QB had against Purdue. A&M @ South Carolina Resurgent Aggies get a really bad So.Carolina team that will be starting a QB who was a Grad asst just a few months ago, he had eligibility left and they are desperate at QB. Aggie Defense might shut these guys out. Wake Forrest @ Army Deacons are ranked and undefeated. Will be a test at Army a pretty good service academy team, not great, but good and Wake like most teams doesn't see thier style of offense very often so it tests the defenses discipline. ACC needs Wake to keep winning.
Jimbo happy in College Station and now Dabo has reiterated that he's happy in his own "Death Valley". Clemson football's Dabo Swinney said Tuesday that he had no interest in the LSU coaching vacancy at this point, joking that he was surprised to be considered "a big-time coach." "This is the only Death Valley I'm concerned with right here," Swinney said, referring to the stadiums in Clemson and Baton Rouge, which are both nicknamed "Death Valley."
2009 Cincinnati Football team was 12-0 in the regular season, and they lost their coach (Brian Kelly) to Notre Dame. If this year's team goes 13-0 in the regular season with the big-time jobs coming open, there is a good chance they will lose their coach again to a bigger program. Even if Fickell doesn't take the USC job if offered and Franklin does I would think that Penn State job would be very attractive to him. For some reason I don't see Fickell at LSU. Midwest guy, Bayou Country and all ..doesn't seem like a good fit. Penn State would be a good fit.
Their AD will go big game hunting and Napier will be the backup plan, even though he might be the best fit for the job.
Bobda, it is State of Washington policy with which the University is forced to comply. A minor but important distinction.
AAC expanding to 14 teams possibly, will be able to split geographically to reduce travel. CUSA in big trouble, where can they poach teams? Florida Atlantic, Charlotte, North Texas, UTSA, Rice and UAB have each officially requested to join the AAC, a move that was first reported by Yahoo Sports on Monday. It's the first step in the realignment process, which is expected to move quickly this week after the university presidents and their general counsels have time to review the terms.
One site is saying that Eddie O's womanizing was what was his undoing as much as his wins and losses. He did divorce his wife after he won the Title. Maybe she was not on board with party lifestyle. Chasing Women, Not Wins? | Ed Orgeron Out As LSU Head Coach At End Of 2021 Season - The Shadow League
That was a great game to watch last night with Appalachian State beating undefeated Costa Carolina 30 to 27 in Boon NC. The Mountaineers ended up with over 500 yds in offense.
