oh ok here we go... The real problem at Auburn stems from the fact that Auburn has lazy ass position coaches who prefer the 2-back, run first offense. They have been a pain in the side down there for a while. As Tubesteak continues to toss coordinators under the bus, his good ole boy network of loyal assistants just stay there... doing what they want to do...and knowing that, at the end of the day, they will still be there and Tubesteak will chuck that coordinator under the bus to save all their butts. They have been terrible in recruiting, rush offense and overall character/demeanor of the program. They had that kid transfer out who enrolled early, and from all signs emitting from that situation, it stunk of a cancerous divide that was brewing on this team. The problem at Auburn is Tommy T. If you don't believe me, hire him. I am sure he will entertain the offer.
Who was the OCoord when they had Jason Campbell, Ronnie Brown and Cadillac Williams? As far as assistants go it's STOP that when you bring in a new OCoord you don't necessarily fire the whole offensive staff, but then you do expect the old guys to support the new OCoord. Do you think Tubesteak is done after this year if they don't finish well? With Saban at Alabama now, they are certainly looking at a reversal of fortunes in the Alabama wars.
Here ya go Terry, check this BTW, the OC was Al Borges. He had 2 great years, a good year and a mediocre year last season. They threw him under the bus after that one mediocre season BEFORE the bowl game to hire Franklin. Read this article and check the comments, the guy named "GotSaban" really nails it: http://blog.al.com/goldmine/2008/10/the_old_tony_franklin_in_charg.html Why the hell is the offensive coordinator out there running around teaching kids what route to run. Where are the position coaches?!?!?! BTW, this article was written YESTERDAY!
interesting...so Tony is out there coaching his ass off yesterday and is fired today. That was a poorly coached AU offense though last week. I don't know if it was the scheme, the OCoord, the players don't fit the scheme or as you said old guard coaches undermining the new guy.
The fact that Auburn fans haven't called for the heads of their position coaches speaks volumes to me about Auburn fans. That poor SOB Latina has been fired a hundred times by us before we even got to Michigan. There has been an alarming drop off in talent at Auburn since 2004. Borges was brought in, like Chow, to coordinate and not recruit. Tubesteak is suppose to be the recruiting guru and his assistants are suppose to be top-flight as well. They have fallen flat on their face year after year for the past 4 years. Their recruiting this year is atrocious. I would say this. Two seasons, two coordinators running totally different offenses. The offense still looks pathetic and poorly coach. Something is the same that is contributing to that. What could it be?
About Corey's comments about Auburn coordinators being repeatedly thrown under the bus. Maybe job applicants should be shown a picture of Tommy's bus before they interview:
LOL Bobda, oh how I've missed you. More Tubesteak stats: This is his 10th season. The hiring of Tony Franklin's replacement will be the 6th offensive coordinator in that time frame. He had Noel Mazzone for 3 years, Bobby Petrino, Hugh Nall (still on staff), Al Borges (3.8 years) , and then Tony Franklin. To show that it isn't just coaches on the offensive side of the ball who think he's a d*ck, Paul Rhodes (current DC) is the 5th defensive coordinator in that time frame.
Texas has been able to hire away 2 of his OCoord for the same job. Clearly working for Mack Brown at Texas is preferable to working for Tubesteak at Auburn.
Freudian slip there Terry? You meant "D" coordinator, since the love affair with Greg Davis is still on-going at the 40 acres as far as I know.
LOL...yeah that was a freudian slip, many Longhorns pray that Greg Davis get a HC job someplace, anyplace and that Major Applewhite moves up to OCoord. Unfortuneately I fear that Greg will be with us as long as Mack is with us, and why would he leave talk about job security, his head coach will make any excuse necessary for him.
Follow up on how much better USC is than the rest of the pac10. ASsU is considered the #2 Pac10 team, now that U$C slaughtered Oregon and USC is a 20+ point favorite over the Sun Gerbils this weekend.
Where is Cal State-Tempe listed as the #2 Pac-10 team? My rank: 1. USC 2. Cal 3. Oregon 4. Oregon State 5. ASU 6. Arizona 7. Stanford 8. UCLA 9. Washington 10. WSU
You know me, I just make up Pac10 stuff as I go along. I think Corey also said somewhere he thought the Maryland loss by CAL was not an indicator of the type of team CAL has right now. But you have to admit that the 34pt win USC pinned on your #3 team sort of indicates that it's USC and 9 also rans, not considering upsets.
WOW.. WTF Auburn? It appears there may have been an altercation leading to the firing. protip: That is real and that is Tony Franklin leaving yesterday.
