4th and 1 and Kellen Mond has a horrible fumble to give the ball back to Vandy. 17-12 under 5 to go. Vandy can't do anything with it though. Punt. Still Scott can't be happy right now.
Ralph bound to be happy. Miami just killing FSU 45-10. They might be the 2nd best team in the ACC, UNC and ND have been considered competing for that #2 slot behind Clemson. But with D'Eriq King at QB and what appears to be a really good defense the 'Canes could certainly be in the conversation for the ACC championship game. They get next weekend off and then Oct 10th they go to Clemson. Big big game for them and for Clemson.
Coaches Poll is out. Gators move up to #3 Miami moves up to #8 OU and LSU drop to #16 and #17. Clemson still #1, Alabama #2 Ohio State moves up 4 spots to #6.
Thanks for all the info guys... I didn't see anything yesterday, and have been out all day today. The only surprise for me was the OU loss. KSU looked bad previously... LSU... I said it many times, you can't lose an entire team, and the QB of a generation and not have it cost you. I was only surprised a little that MSU was able to get in sync enough to do it in a first game. The Aggies played a pretty bad game. Mistake after mistake at all the wrong times. 4 fumbles (one should have been overturned) Good news is, almost all of it was mental stuff. We have a lot more size, speed and athleticism just gotta get it seeing the right reads. Mond is Mond. He can laser a pass into a tight window on one play, and then miss water falling out of a boat on the next. Just gotta hope he gets hot in the next few games.
Did not realize that QB Stetson Bennett is a walk-on at Georgia, if he continues to start that'll be quite a story.
What did we learn from Week 4? 1. The Big 12 is probably in trouble with regards to the CFP. OU doesn't look like the type of team that Lincoln Riley has has so far in his short career. His offenses have been so spectacular that they could overcome any defensive problems. Not so far this year. They look like a 2 loss team. Texas looked great on offense v Texas Tech, but like OU the defense had problems and the turnover bug was everywhere. It doesn't seem like the Longhorns are a candidate to go undefeated. The rest of the B12 is pretty evenly matched probably and will beat each other up. 2. Miami and Pitt in the ACC look to be spoilers. Both have really good defenses. 3. Florida looks like they are now the favorite in the SEC East. Alabama again is the odds on favorite in the SEC West. Both teams got great QB play from their starters. 4. Mike Leach is still the Pirate King...win over LSU was great. Air Raid lives in the SEC! 5. Everybody is back, Pac 12, Mtn West, Big 10, MAC, all back, playing shortened schedules but back. 6. With the B12 in trouble with maybe no CFP team, then will Oregon step in from the Pac? I think they'll need to be undefeated to do it. If they don't then we could see 2 SEC or even 2 Big 10 teams.
kp and I discussed QB's over the weekend. I liked KJ Costello and Kyle Trask...he was impressed with his guy, Mac Jones and rightly so, and he also liked Stetson Bennett. So QB ratings from ESPN #1 Mac Jones #2 Stetson Bennett #3 Kyle Trask #10 KJ Costello...I guess 600 yds, 60% completions, 5 TD's is good but not that good. The one I really didn't get is Spencer Rattled being rated above Sam Ehlinger....Sam just single handedly won the game for Texas with his pin point passing in the last 3 minutes, while Rattled threw away the game in Norman. Scotts guy...Kellen Mond....not in the top 50! 2020 College Football Season Leaders Total QBR | ESPN
Nope... and to be honest, he's probably NOT a top 50 guy. He can have top 10 quarters, but usually can't string an entire game together. It's too bad... cuz we've assembled some good talent around him. Probably won't be a stellar OL until next year, but otherwise there is now some electricity in our skill positions.
