Not watching any games but ND, but looking at scores..... Holy Cow Longhorns have put up 42 points in the 1st half. I don't think anyone saw that coming.
Pyne comes off the Pine and leads the Irish! Great series for the kid. Looks confident and is making good throws. 24 - 13 IRISH!
I wonder if Scott is at the game today, it's at Jerry World, short drive from where he lives. But then I think he's sworn to never contribute a nickel to Jerry Jones.
The Aggie OL woes continue, they aren't close to gelling. Best corner let's Hog WR go right by him for 75... Better get it together boys.
Wow... That's all I have for the tackling on that Hog swing pass - a defender actually shoved him toward the goal line.
Lots of surprises today so far. Clemson goes down to NCSTATE, another no offense game. A&M goes down to the Hogs, offense again not good. Iowa State goes down to Baylor. Cyclones had almost their entire starting 22 back and were dark horse candidates for the CFP and pre-season top 10. OU in a dog fight vs West Virginia losing 10 - 7, Spencer Rattler continues his non-Heisman play and is actually being booed at home tonight. AJ's Huskers tied up with MSU in the 3rd. GaTech leading UNC I didn't watch but Ga Southern threatened to upset Auburn. One board I read claimed that they were jobbed criminally by the SEC refs.
And although the Buckeyes were up by 4 TDs one of their linebackers quits the team during the game. K'Vaughn Pope Leaves Field After Heated Exchange, Tweets Good Luck to His Teammates
Watching a great game OU/West Virginia. 13 - 13 5 minutes to go. Just looking at the Stat sheet in the Buckeyes game, looks like they have found out that they have an excellent backup in Kyle McCord.
OU escaped with a FG as the clock ran out. West Virginia played a heck of a game. Nebraska lost a heart breaker, special teams gave up the punt return to allow MSU to force OT and win with the FG
Looks like McCord got lions share of the snaps, over 300 yds passing. Think that cements him as a solid #2?
Of interest to Irish fans, USC was beaten by Oregon State pretty handily at least just looking at the score. Rankings will be interesting this week. Where will they put Arkansas? Iowa didn't look great vs Col State, and Penn State struggled a bit early vs FCS Villanova. Will A&M slip out of the top 10, where will Clemson fall to in the rankings? Right now it looks like Alabama and Georgia and then the rest. Will the Irish move back into the top 10? I don't really think we are a top 10 team, if we ever get the OL ironed out maybe but right now no.
Baylor's good win over Iowa State has boosted them into contender, and with SMU racking up a ton of rushing yards at TCU, Texas fans are licking their chops at what Bijan Robinson might do next weekend when the Longhorns play TCU.
I think Miller looked more settled and threw the ball better than McCord. Both did well but it took McCord a bit to get settled down. His stats were better as far as yards per catch, but my impression was that most of that was short passes with long runs by the receivers. I don't have the stats to back it up but it just felt to me that Miller was dropping the longer balls in a bit better. He only threw 8 passes so tough to say.
Rankings are out and they to me are pretty jumbled. Sure Clemson fell to #25 as they should, maybe shouldn't even be ranked. Alabama and Georgia are clear #1 and #2 no problem there. Gators should be ranked higher IMHO, Irish are ranked too high. Arkansas is a dangerous team, maybe even ranked too low as well. Hard for me to separate the #3 through about #15. As always though things will start to become clearer during October.
I don't know what to think of the RU/Michigan game. UM has been just dominating teams running the ball and been very efficient with the pass when needed. I really thought they would just boat race RU. But RU limited that running game to only 112 yards (2.9 yds/carry). They ran for almost 200 yards on the UM defense (4.7 yards/carry). I'll be curious what Bobda tought after this game.
