No big surprise, ok maybe a little, both Iowa (5) and Oregon (4) jumped up to the the top 5, Irish drop out to #12 . Ohio State drop to #9.

Last time the PAC12 won a non-conference road game vs a top 10 team was 1990 when Stanford went to South Bend and beat #1 Notre Dame 36 - 31. Touchdown Tommy Vardell with 4 scores and Irish fumbling 3 punts that lead to 2 Stanford scores.

Not sure those rankings will prove to be correct, but they are fine for now.
I'm kinda surprised the Aggies didn't fall further. New QB Calzada played a lot better at the end of the game, but that's no guarantee he'll continue to progress and be able to make this the offense we thought it would be.

I agree, it's pretty much standard for the early season. Things are going to be sorted out week to week, but don't count me as one who thinks there shouldn't be any polls until the CFP poll comes out as it's the only one that counts.

I enjoy whining about overrated teams, unless of course it's my team! :D

I liked this description of Iowa...

Biggest strength: knowing yourself. The recipe never changes. As I've written quite a few times recently, Iowa is so good at Iowa things -- line play, big-play prevention, glorious punting -- that it doesn't even need to be good at the forward pass.

After dismantling Indiana with the above recipe in Week 1, the Hawkeyes did exactly the same to Iowa State on Saturday. ISU's Breece Hall gained 93 yards in 20 touches; Brock Purdy completed a 49-yard pass to Darren Wilson Jr. but gained just 89 yards with three picks in 26 other throws. The Hawkeyes leveraged ISU behind the chains, held the Cyclones to 3-for-12 on third downs and forced four turnovers. Oh yeah, and Tory Taylor averaged 51.1 yards per punt and placed five inside the ISU 20.

While that was an epic beat down for the Longhorns, I just have to point out that historically the Longhorns have done well vs the Hogs. Longhorns lead the series 56-23, including the Saturday night mauling! :(

In a bit of a turn around, the OCoord who was fired after the Navy loss to Air Force this past weekend has been rehired as the QB coach.

Well Clay Helton is the first casualty of the season. He was fired as the USC coach.

"As I committed to upon my arrival at USC, during the past two off-seasons we provided every resource necessary for our football program to compete for championships," said Bohn, in a statement announcing the dismissal. "The added resources carried significantly increased expectations for our team's performance, and it is already evident that, despite the enhancements, those expectations would not be met without a change in leadership."

Donte Williams will serve as the interim head coach. Williams joined the USC staff in 2020 as the cornerbacks coach and defensive pass game coordinator and was elevated to associate head coach after last season.

Let the Urban Meyer to USC rumors commence! At some point he'll issue a statement just like Saban and say he's not going to be the USC coach, then in a few weeks he's the USC coach. Of course if he has a successful 1st season at Jacksonville, which it's not looking like he will, he might stay. He has Trevor Lawrence.

Have all of your teams gone to digital tickets, no smart phone, no ticket? ND has done that, and reports are that all the scalpers you used to see going into ND along the roads are gone.

I read today that OSU digital tickets created some problems with lines of people waiting to get inside in time for kick off

Haynes King, A&M RS Freshman QB who left the Colorado game with a lower leg injury had surgery today and will out for about 6 weeks. Jimbo didn't say but it has to be a fracture of the fibula which is the smaller bone in the lower leg.

Apparently you have to buy the tickets online then transfer them to your digital wallet. Learning curve takes time.

I imagine that has resulted in people being unable to buy resold tickets. A week or so I got an email from the Morris Inn indicating that there were rooms available for the Toledo weekend. That's never happened before as far as I know. Between Covid and digital tickets the stadium isn't nearly full.

The apps have seen have features for transferring tickets. That's how I recently bought Alabama tickets. I wonder what it will do to street scalpers?

It will be a temporary setback I am sure, eventually they will figure it out and get back to business.
