While it's early, anybody who thought PSU beating Ohio State some how made Ohio State's position in the playoffs illegitimate because the result on the field H to H should trump all and you have to ignore the losses to Pitt and Mich ..well don't worry it looks right now like the Badgers are going to put an epic beat down on the Nits.
Terry look at the stats for the first half. I know Hurts is a freshman but his choices are questionable. Fumble prone, too quick to pull down the ball and take off running and a so-so passer. His passing stats are padded by the wide receiver sweeps. They count as completed passes because of the forward hand-off. Our defense has been the reason we have dominated games this year. Florida finished with around 50 yds rushing (not counting the sacks). Look at Pettway's (Auburn) yardage against us and he was leading the SEC in rushing. Look at Fournette's yardage against us. Our offense is very ordinary and I think it is playcalling. Kiffin does a good job of developing qb's I guess but his playcalling, at least this year, puts us in a hole that our defense pulls us out of, and then Saban puts his foot down and makes him run the ball in the second half.
Wisc has only been outscored in the 2nd half by 3 teams: by 4 pts against lsu, 3 pts against nu, and by 10 pts against osu (plus another 7 in ot). 14 pts at half is pretty close to game over.
Dr. Pepper Give away...it's really evolved over the years. They used to all throw the football like a QB, I forget when but somewhere along the line some dude decided that it was better to just do a chest pass and now everybody does it.
 Qb didnt have an unhurried drop most of the first half. Since the last td of the 1st half, they havent been able to get to him.
Wisc can't defend the long ball, they have tall receivers and Wisc has short db's, and now that PSU OL is giving the QB time to throw it's open season on the Wisc DBs
This game has been a great game, the best game of the day. Huge MO shift for the Nits who looked like they were going to get run out of the stadium early but now are in total command.
Ball game...PSU stuffs Wisc on 4th and 1 and that's it. What a game, and a total reversal Wisc up 28-7 and loses.
So going into this game the Big Ten had 4 teams in the top ten. Will the conference champion not make it to the playoffs?
Well that's going to be a big topic, but if you go on the season resume, Ohio State has a tougher schedule and more top 10 wins. But of course the upset at Penn State is a factor. I favor Ohio State on the total resume, the Pitt loss and the beat down by Mich to me make Ohio State the better resume. Of course if you don't want the best four teams in the playoffs and favor the Conf Championship then PSU should jump Ohio State. Clemson had a scare with VaTech as well tonight. So who are your 4 teams? I'm going with Bama, Clemson, Ohio State and Washington. I think those are best of the top teams.
Herbie just said Penn State should jump Washington because Washington's non conference schedule is so bad. That will cause an eruption from the Pac12 I would imagine.
I haven't been that impressed with Ohio St. the past month. They beat Wisc. in OT. They barely got by MSU and the were very fortunate to beat Mich. Penn. St handled Wisc. and MSU better than OSU and finished with a 9 game winning streak. I'd take Bama, Clemson, UW and PSU. They're all conference winners.
Sorry Herbie... that's crap. The Committee will have to choose one from the BIG... and that's that. The fatal flaw of a 4 team playoff is the fact that you have a power 5. You are screwing at least one champion every year, and now he's proposing screwing two. 8 teams avoids this mess perfectly without voiding the season.
It's funny that Meyer has had a 12-0 season where he couldn't go to a bowl due to the Tressel mess, then he had a 12-0 season ended by a B1G Champ game loss, and now a 11-1 season that could be affected by that upset. That's 35-2 in 3 seasons that didn't allow him to compete for the nat'l title. If they don't make the CFP this year.
Doubt if Ohio State will be bumped from 2nd to 5th given that their only loss was a close loss to the Big 10 champion on the road. Also, they soundly beat Big 12 champion Oklahoma in Norman. The battle will be between PSU and Washington. Washington's achilles heel is their Baylor like non conference schedule of Idaho, Portland State, and Rutgers while Penn State's weakness is the drubbing Michigan put on them and their non conference loss to Pitt. Suspect Washington gets the 4th spot over PSU but I would not be shocked if Washington gets penalized and downgraded to 5th because of their non conference schedule. There playoff system should reward teams who take risks in non conference scheduling and downgrade those who don't. Also, given that the prize for finishing 4th is the privilege of getting stomped on by Alabama, maybe finishing 5th is not so bad.
