Its EsPN doing what they do best - creating stories so they can keep their ratings jacked up. They will now attack Winston and find a new hero to prop up... Been there done that. BTW, JFF's little run in with the law was prior to the 2012 season...
It's one thing to pump up a kid maybe making some coin off of his autograph or reporting things that are actually true, like that arrest. But jumping on a sexual assualt that seems to have a thin connection to Winston is dirty pool. Victim descripition of black male 5'9" to 5'11" hardly matches Winston at 6'4". Something doesn't smell right with this.
Gracious I hope this is not traced back to me, especially because my Buckeyes would have the most to gain, if he can not play in the BCS game
The cops in Tally really must be a pretty harsh bunch when it comes to FSU football. James Wilder has been arrested three different times for pretty much non-serious issues and now at such a curiously inopportune time this comes up with Winston. Maybe the police chief received his law enforcement degree from the U of F....
Don't know what to make of the FSU thing so won't comment except to say if he's innocent I hope it blows over quickly and if he's guilty that he gets what is coming. Actually this has probably ruined his Heisman chances and this will follow him for a long time.
So with that fact in mind the ones bringing this up at this particular time in the season have already convicted Winston. If that is not the case.... and doesn't turn out to be the case then he should seek counsel and sue the F**k out of whomever is responsible for this timing. Of course.... if guilty then what he wants or thinks doesn't matter but by bringing this now someone is either very reckless with Winston's life or they are damned sure of his guilt.
Travis Johnson is a former Houston Texan and FSU grad, he's now on radio in Houston and he talked about that from a personal point of view. He called the Fla State Attny a racist, said that back when he was at FSU he was accused of rape by a member of the track team, a 6'1" 265lb woman shot putter. He said the alleged rape took place right after his shoulder surgery and it was totally a bs thing that he was at the time physically unable to do, in fact at Sport Med guy testified that if he had done what she said he had done he would have had to have been back in the OR the next day for another surgery. Anyway he said the Fla State Attny told him if he passed a Lie detector he wouldn't charge him, he said he not only passed 1 but passed 3 but they charged him any way. Never the less he won at trial and was exonerated. Said it stained him though and he wanted to sue the chick but the law doesn't allow for it. He felt that States Attny wouldn't have proceeded if he wasn't black. He also aknowledged that he doesn't know anything about the Winston case, and that rape is a serious issue and he has no reason to believe that the allegations are true or not. But thinks the timing of the announcement are very suspicious and he still thinks that race most likely has something to do with it.
I agree with him..... something other than a regard for innocent until proven guilty is running amuck here. This kind of backwoods application of the law here in this state smudges the state's reputation and I wouldn't be surprised if this sequence of events doesn't hurt Florida State recruiting if he is found to be innocent. Now usually I'm all for hurting FSU recruiting but I can't agree with racists members of law enforcement running out of control to damage the reputation of innocent black men. Think about the ignorant redneck judge in Orlando back in 1988 threatening UF's Jarvis Williams with hard time for not coming up with $50.00 in child support. ( Galen Hall fired for helping and UF on subsequent probation ) Williams would soon go from being a destitute inner city black kid to a millionaire who could buy his kid three homes on the beach but at that time and place he couldn't come up with $50.
I know it's not popular in some circles but let's wait and see what develops with Winston. The timing is suspect because it will certainly hurt his Heisman chances.
