I have it on good word that is a picture of Fran, you know he moved to Austin didn't you!!
Why don't you copy my posts in this topic that you consider to be "loud and obnoxious".....I think you're.....no I won't say it since you guys can say anything you please without retribution and I have to just sit idly by while you blast away. Granted I have been enthusiastic about Florida's BCS chances since Penn St lost but who wouldn't be. Consider an excerpt from today's article in Gatorsports: "Since the start of October, Florida has been on a magical, remarkable run, a five-game SEC winning streak that has seen the Gators overwhelm opposing defenses and blow up opposing offenses with big plays and turnovers." A look at the streaks1996 Opponent Score Tennessee 35-29 Kentucky 65-0 Arkansas 42-7 LSU 56-13 Auburn 51-10 Georgia 47-7 By the numbers: The Gators averaged 49.3 points and 521.7 yards a game, while giving up only 11.0 points and 262.3 yards a game. 2008 Opponent Score Arkansas 38-7 LSU 51-21 Kentucky 63-5 Georgia 49-10 Vanderbilt 42-14 By the numbers: The Gators have averaged 48.6 points and 446.0 yards a game, whilve giving up 11.5 points and 322.5 yards a game. "It has been one of the greatest runs in Florida football history. And it has conjured up memories of 1996, the last time the Gators went on a beat-down binge like this one."
Tom might have made a slight overstatement for this thread. The real problem is you try to spin opinion and what-if's as fact. Trying to compare what HAS happened to Georgia and LSU (losses) to what MIGHT happen to Mizzou, Tech and OU is no way to back up a SOS argument. Comparing the XII defenses to the WAC might be valid if the XII offenses only started to catch fire when they entered conference play. We all know that isn't the case. ETC... If you'd just allow for the slightest possibility things won't go your way you'd take a lot less flack.
I apparently always take more to heart what the media is saying than many here do. Although I had already figured it out by the time the kick was good for Iowa the rest of the night Saturday all you heard was all Florida had to do was win out and they're in. That's still the case as the week wears on and it will be the case this weekend. The key is winning out....that's the hard part. Kirk Herbstreidt is trying to get a big payback whammy on Florida for beating up the unsuspecting, overconfident Buckeyes in 2006 because he already annoints UF the national champion whenever he gets a chance. Thanks but no thanks Kirk...we see what you're up to....
I think the role the media plays in college football is enormous. I know a lot of people here hate that fact and I don't think it's a good thing either but I still think it's fact. College football is a lot like politics, if you get enough people to like you, your chances for success, or at least obtaining the opportunity for success, are good. It's that simple. Just watch and see if USC wins out and wins BIG if the media doesn't start a pitch to get them in. After all, the media types, recruiting analysts, etc. have been telling us for two years that they're the best team ever assembled. They probably are talent-wise and they have good coaching too. However, having talent and getting that talent to play up to their potential each and every week is the challenge. Just ask Phil Fulmer.
That is a flawed statement Dave. Even you don't take what the media says to heart UNLESS it fits your agenda. Let them say something Pro Gators and you are all behind it. Let them say something against the Gators or something that remotely promotes another team and you dismiss it.
Dude seriously... I eagerly anticipate your triumphant display of statistical superiority after the Citadel matchup
Let's see....with that said you oughta have 7 out of 10 examples where I disagreed vs. agreed with the media on negative comments about the Gators or especially where they promote another team and I don't agree. Where you get your "statistics" on that is hard to quantify.
