Well, Colorado made a lot of people, including me, eat their words today. Deon’s son played sensationally.
Down go the Boilermakers. Just looking at the stats for former Longhorns QB Hudson Card, he had a good day. But the Fresno State QB was better.
Everyone talking about the Colorado win but……they should make a good Big 12 team. They gave up 541 yds!!!!
As anyone could see I was upset with our offense at Indiana yesterday. McCord is no Stroud at QB and we need to improve there if we are to enjoy a successful season. Defense looks much better, except we seem to have trouble with open field tackles. Offensive line needs to improve their protection.
Don, on the other side, while I know you can't win games scoring 3 points - well, usually - I was pleased to see IU's defense "hold" Ohio State to 23 points, the lowest since 1993. Nevertheless, it was the 29th straight win over the Hoosiers, and it was a W for your Buckeyes, so be happy.
Well the Petrino debut was a success. The Aggies scored TDs on their first 5 possessions and were ready at the line with 20 plus seconds on the play clock (Jimbo was notoriously slow at getting plays in when he was calling them). The defense had a few lackadaisical series, but we're overall fairly good. I can at least hope we don't crap the bed in the trip to Miami...
The Alabama quarterback situation is not a disaster. Milroe started and provided a solid performance. He had some throws that were way off but he also had many throws right on the money. I am a little concerned with our offensive line run blocking. We should be blowing MTSU off of the line but we aren't. Defense played well but it was MTSU. Overall, I think we did what we were supposed to do against a weaker opponent but Texas will be a much better barometer. I took my Grandson to the game and that made it special for me.
Hope it was a learning lesson. Looked like a rookie coaching staff, which it was. Scratching my head on offensive calls. Not sure if defensively we don't have the DB's or if it was a problem with coverages called. Brooks was awesome...we had nobody who could cover him.
Stu, the Indy columnist, Gregg Doyel, agrees 100% with your observations re: the rookie staff, the play calling, and the DBs, but he's spent time around the program and the coach and is optimistic about the future beyond the first game. FWIW, I'm copy/pasting the article to a Word file sans pictures and am sending it to you.
I've had FSU on my list of teams I strongly dislike since the 80's, and LSU has always been a meh team for me. But FSU might be on the cusp of being back to the good old days. Stone LSU on 1st and goal from the 2 and then take over and drive 85 yds for the score afer a 15 yard penalty set them back quite a bit and score easily. Damn I hate those guys
Kelly, eating a big shitburger, is one of life's great delights. The countdown is on before he starts scapegoating his own players. 3-2-1.... The portal and the revolving player carousel does not suit his style one bit.
Pretty entertaining game last night (very entertaining if you're an ND fan.) LSU's D seem to wear out in the second half. Not sure if it's lack of depth or conditioning. If I'm Dabo, I'm thinking someone put a pothole in my yellow brick road to the conference championship.
Welcome my ND brothers! Welcome to the hate L$U club. Hopefully you get to be in the "I almost pity them" club when they fall off a cliff for the season. I sure hope I get to kick that bum when he's laying in the gutter after Thanksgiving!
