Well Bo Pellini didn't stay unemployed for very long. He took the job as Head Coach for Youngstown State...will be working for Jim Tressel instead of being replaced by Jim Tressel!
Jim Tressel was in on this hire from the very beginning. Bo will not be under any terrible pressure for awhile and will have a nice lucrative income from the Nebraska gold fields. Win. Win for the coach and Youngstown State!
Whoa...I did not see this coming. Gary Anderson the Wisconsin coach just took the Oregon State job. Wisc is a traditional Big10 power has been ever since Barry Alvarez took over, Oregon State is not a Pac12 power. I am stunned that he made this move. He came from Utah State, I wonder if he just wanted to get back out West.
Stunning. leaving a top 25 program to coach at a school that is a chew toy for other Pac 12 schools. 2nd coach to bolt from Wisky in 4 years. Is Barry a pain in the ass as a boss?
Bobda, Just read that news and surprised as well. Some rumors that he was experiencing with recruiting and Wisconsin was not will in g to back off on their academic requirements. Whether there is any truth to that statement is unknown.
 If you want a small town atmosphere and the perfect place to raise a family, Corvallis, Oregon and Utah State are two of those places. Obviously, the odds of either one ever producing a consistent football powerhouse is remote, but both places are preferred spots for folks who love that small town flavor... Having said all that......I'm beginning to wonder about Barry Alvarez...
James Brown and John Mackovic's greatest moment. Note how the Blackshirts got sucked in on the play, there had to be 10 of the 11 right over center. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/6x3DmBfQrIE" frameborder="0"></iframe>
Looks like the Badgers are going to hire the Pitt coach, Paul Chryst, who is a UW grad, played and coached there..was Bielema's OCoord before going to Pitt. Good move. He's not been wildly successful at Pitt at 19-19 and might even have been coaching fo his job next year. But he knows Alvarez, he knows the Wisconsin way, and if he's successful I'd bet he will stay a long time and not be lured by any other college job.
So Wisconsin hires a coach within 48 hours of their coach being hired away. And the AD claims he was very surprised by the coach leaving and had no idea it was in the works?? Riiiight...
I gotta ask... When A&M did the coach search after "He Who Shall Not be Mentioned" was fired... the Black Coaches Assoc or whatever the hell it is called gave us a grade of "F" for not asking them for a list of candidates. ESPN splashed it on their main page when it was announced... Didn't matter that we hired a black coach, we didn't get their approved list. Now Wisconsin hires a coach in 48 hours, and I don't hear sh!t from that bunch of trolls. What gives? There's NO WAY Alvarez got a list, much less contacted anyone on it in that short a time. WTF?
Chryst to Wisky is not a done deal. http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaaf/bigten/2014/12/12/wisconsin-badgers-greg-schiano-new-coach-barry-alvarez-paul-chryst/20334885/ Frankly, if Wisky wants to actually compete with Urban's Legion, I think hiring Schiano rather than Chryst would give them a much better chance to do so. Schiano's flame out at Tampa Bay tarnished his reputation but Holtz, Saban and Carroll had rough experiences in the pro but thrived when they returned back to coach college football. Chryst would be a safer choice-he grew in Madison and played at UW: coaching the Badgers would be his dream job. But, I think Schiano has much more of an upside than Chryst although his volatility and the question of whether he would bolt for a better job if he had significant success at Wisconsin have to be weighed.
Scott, You guys aren't alone in that. I do wish people would call out the inequality of their protests.
