I have a feeling that the vote counting procedures will be closely monitored by election supervisors etc. and not just counted by a couple of guys in the back wearing Biden hats and drinking a few beers. I do agree that all legit boxes of ballots or whatever do have to be counted.... must be counted no matter how backed up the system gets.
Texas has now suprassed it's vote count from 2016, on the way to a record turnout. So much for Democrats complaints of voter suppression.
Anybody who mails their ballot today or Monday is an idiot. Not because their is some conspiracy, but they are hoping for everything to work perfectly. If they can't vote in person Tuesday they should drive their vote to their county drop off box. If they are too lazy to do that then I don't really care if their vote is not counted. They have had more options, more early voting locations, longer hours at some locations. No excuse is valid at this point.
I tend to agree with Terry at this late in the game date. Waiting till now is much too late in my opinion for a mail-in vote. Voting on Tuesday should be the only option..... and it should be an option even if you have a mail-in ballot that was sent to you already. Their data base would only allow for one vote to be counted so no one could vote in person and also mail one in.
New York Times exit poll re voter suppression asks whether their state makes it easy for one to vote: ———— Very easy 68% of voters Somewhat easy 25% Somewhat difficult 5% Very difficult 1%
CNN polls had Biden +3. Based on the unusually high numbers T received in Miami re the Cuban vote, looks like T will take the state.
I was wrong about one thing, that is that Biden would win in a run away. That's clearly not going to happen though.
It looks like Trump is going to hold all of the states south of the Mason-Dixon line that he won in 2016. Looks like Pa, Wi, Mi may decide everything again. I am as surprised as you, Terry how close this is.
Arizona flips to Biden. Trump will likely win Ohio. He leads close in Penn, Mich and Wisconsin, if all else holds Trump need two of those three. Add N. Carolina to the list as it is very close. So winning three of them is necessary and Trump leads all four.
Never thought it would be this close. I'm going to bed, I will still be surprised if Trump wins. But it's looking like it's not out of the question.
Let me see if I can put my thoughts together coherently before I go to bed. The way I see this the three states I mentioned above Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin will decide this election. Adding N. Carolina, Trump leads in all four, whoever gets two of them will win. Trump needs three of them and Biden two if my math is right. So the lawyers are likely to take over. I like Trumps odds, but I also believe there is a path, with cheating on the mail votes, for victory. One of the states a state official ruled that an unsigned ballot would be assumed to be from the person listed. That should not be legal. Another state had some bureaucrats over rule how many days after the voting day and increase it by I think 6 days to 9 days. That is my state of North Carolina and that should be illegal. If Trump loses legitimate so be it. But I see the real possibility of the Democrats doing whatever they can to steal the election. And that would not be acceptable. On another note I think we have seen a realignment take place during this election and the Republicans are becoming the party of working people. I like that. Well Biden just came on to tell us how happy he is about where he stands and predicting they will win Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, not without cheating they won't. Well I am off to bed.
Every legitimate ballot cast should be counted.... without question. Looking at it any other way is third world. I do agree that as of 7:15 this morning they should stop the vote counting immediately in Az. and Wisconsin. Electoral College: Here's how long states have to count votes - CNNPolitics November 3 – Election Day Voters vote, votes are counted. While many millions of Americans cast their ballots in the weeks leading up to Election Day, either by mail or as an in-person absentee voter, US law says Election Day occurs on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November. Votes are counted across the country on Election Day. While news networks will project winners in certain races, there is always time after Election Day for provisional or mail-in votes to be counted.
I wake up to find it's still not decided. I like Bill's analysis. It does appear that it's going to be so close that there will be challenges, that's fine it's legal to challenge an election. People in small local elections can challenge and often do, the President or Biden also have the right to challenge. It happened in 2000 and the election result was delayed and we still survived as a country. I hope whatever challenges are made are decided fairly on the merits.
What I didn't have right Terry is that it looks like both Wisconsin and Michigan could flip which if legitimate would end it. However there is little doubt in my mind that the legitimacy of a lot of the mail in ballots is in question and will end up in court. Looks like the Republicans will hold the senate and if James holds on in Michigan, which is shaky, then there would be no movement in the Senate. If Biden wins I hope the Republicans in the Senate don't roll over when approving his judges. My memory is that no Dem voted for Trumps Supreme Court nominees and the Republicans should think long and hard before approving any Judge that is not seen as centrist. The Dems sure wouldn't. My life will go on regardless.
As predicted some states are unable to count all their votes. How can a party that can't even timely count votes run the country?
It's looking more and more like a narrow Biden win. I don't expect post-election court challenges to change that.
I agree Terry, you were more right than I was last night. I sure didn't expect both Michigan and Wisconsin to go to Biden. Just going to have to live with a Biden Presidency, at least until Kamala takes over.
"How can a party that can't even timely count votes run the country?" I do believe that it's the state governents who count the votes..... not any political party. If that's the case I demand a recount in Florida!!
