more interesting facts. I understand that people don't believe that the Pac10 has history and traditions. There is an excuse for a close SCAR vs Georgia game, but not an Oregon State upset of USC but... Since the 2000 season, USC has played Oregon State in Corvallis 4 times counting tonight... They have lost 3 of them.
I can't believe it, USC comes out rips off 2 scores and you figure that they will roll and probably score 35 2nd half points. But Sanchez chokes under the pressure of the Beavers. What a great game, gotta love that kid from outside Houston...Jaquizz Rodgers. Terry
In his defense Terry, the Beavers were pretty nasty tonight.. Who here among us wouldn't have choked in the face of a nasty Beaver?
Bad fourth quarter for Sanchez, and that knee was looking a little balky. I wonder if Mustain might get more first team reps this week in practice. I do hope Malauga is okay.
Nice night. Two teams I don't like, but the one I don't like the most loses. Heh-heh. 8) I read a couple of days ago in Sporting News that Mustain is now #4 on the depth chart. I expect his parents will complain to the coach.
Awesome game......obviously the best upset of the season. Makes Penn St look very good and some others not so good. Shows you what can happen on any given Saturday... Maybe Florida will be more attentive the next two weeks vs. Ole Miss and Arkansas.
Garrett Green was the backup QB last night. With Barkley comming on board next year Mustain will not likely ever see the light of day at QB. So Sad. Terry
[quote "Terry O'Keefe" said, Bill is stretching the Space Time Continum and see's into the future...here in regular time USC is down 21-7!! [/quote] I guess I was just looking into my crystal ball.
I feel like Charlie Brown - Just when I think I get to kick the ball somebody jerks it away! My fantasy team is cursed. At first a shootout looked imminent, and I'd score a lot of fantasy points. Unfortunately Sanchez didn't hold up his end!!
nah Scott. While you were suffering watching Sanchez as your fantasy QB last night, you seemed to overlook that your opponent's (me) defense was USC's.
I'm not sure what to make of the outcome of this game. Certainly road games against conference opponents are tough. Oregon St. was humiliated by Penn St. a few weeks back but they played at Penn St. I would state my theory about traveling across country here but Tenn. was really that bad as they first showed against Ucla. Georgia went to the desert and got a win too so I'm rethinking that line of thought a bit. I think USC was simply flat and Oregon St. possibly has a superstar budding at RB in Rogers. The bottom line is, college football is unpredictable and that's what I love most about it. Some Pac-10 homers (cue Corey) are going to say that this proves that the Pac-10 is a tough conference but I'm not so sure after the Mountain West has absolutely taken Pac-10 teams to the woodshed thus far. Then I think maybe the Mountain West is just that good. But if they are, then you def. have to rank the MWC over the Big 10 whose champion got slaughtered at the hands of USC. I think there's little debate that the Mountain West is probably better than the Big East and the ACC. Is the MWC the third best conference in all the land??? Perhaps they're even better than that after BYU manhandled a team that Tenn. struggled with. It's all so confusing. One thing, I think, is clear the MWC deserves very serious consideration in discussions about expanding the BCS membership.
Aquila, I'm with you. I think that, this year, the MWC has shown that they have some real good teams and should be taken seriously. This gets back to my thesis that all DIV1 bowl conferences should be in the BCS. Creating a caste system that automatically puts half the teams in a division on the outside looking in is just asking for trouble. And trouble is all this system has been.
An addition to that thought <t>you make a good point Aquila.<br/> <br/> Due to the built-in prejudices of the system though... it's a 'damned if you do, damned if you don't' environment in college football.<br/> <br/> If USC loses in the Pac10, it shows they are overrated... If USC wins the Pac10 unbeaten, it shows the whole conference is weak. I've been yapping about this forever as it is simply 1) not true and 2) totally unfair. Meanwhile, we have dang near half the SEC jammed into the top 10 so when they start losing it becomes 'yeah they lost, but they lost to a top 10 SEC program....'<br/> <br/> Not knocking you guys. It's a great conference. My beef is, has, and always will be the system.</t>
I still think USC gets in the NC game as long as 1) no more than 1 BCS conference teams are undefeated and 2) USC doesn't lose anymore games. The SEC teams will have at least one loss with the possible exception of the Gators, IMO, and USC lost early so they'll have time to climb. The talent on that Trojan squad is undeniable. I could see USC getting passed over for a 1 loss SEC team with a big win in the conference championship game.
I didn't do so bad after all. Sanchez was still good for 25 points. I missed one of the TD's... There is HOPE! 8)
