Cushing and Maiava are pretty stout as well. If you like LBers, and contact, this USC/Ohio State game is for you.
I don't know why I feel so compelled to feel gloomy about Beanie's injury...but I would point out that with the game only 5 days away he was held out of practice...oops...now I see that was mentioned above. Also I would have a better feeling for this game if the B10 teams, ourselves included, didn't have such a dismal history when traveling out to the left coast.
Stu, snap out of it man....! Need I remind you that not all of our trips out west to face national champion caliber competition ends in disaster....as I recall you were present for a very pleasant trip west that I missed due to another pressing engagement....! The last time we were this big a dog and there were this many predictions of an ugly event was against Miami in the desert in 02.....I'd be ok with that outcome. This team has lost 5 games in three years, all to BCS bowl teams - 3 of which were to the eventual national champs and this group is the best of the bunch - all things considered. Rumors as to our demise have been greatly overblown.....but quite helpful.
 ...that stuff is priceless - just change the names and you have the current match-up. Amazing how one game can so dramatically change perceptions.
There is one key difference. In 2002 I am quite certain OSU had 80 % of the attending fans behind them in Tempe. This game should feature about 85-90% Trojan fans which I am sure will turn quite nasty if USC gets a lead in the second half.
Aside from Dave praying for Buckeye doom, I haven't seen a lot of Trojan fans running their mouths on this one. This isn't their first rodeo. Like you, those guys have been winning for a long, long time. I think you'll find that, pubescent internet banter aside, most long time Trojan fans have a deep respect for Ohio State and its traditions. They may not like you, but they will respect you.. It is a situation, the Pac10-Big10 rivalry, in which familiarity hasn't bred contempt...but rather friendly rivalry. Now if you were talking about USC vs an LSU team (and this is not a thread hijack), I think you would see a lot more contempt and lack of respect. All they see out of a few in the SEC are coaches and fans running their mouths about how piss poor the Pac10 is, but no one ever seems willing to pick up the phone to nab one of those 'easy wins.'
Oh it was a thread hijack Corey, but that's ok, I'm not biting as your distaste for the SEC rivals MCG and his Ohio State thoughts.  MCG, you will never cease to amaze me with your lack of grace talking about Ohio State.
Jesus H f*cking Christ. It was NOT a thread hijack. Everyone knows you're not coming out to play... Its very true that a good many Pac10 fans have a distaste for the LSU's of your conference though. A big mouthed, pumpkin headed coach who shoots his mouth off about the weakness of the Pac10, but makes no attempt to call USC and end the speculation. I was pointing out in reference to: The SC people have a lot of respect for Ohio State. That's true. I didn't want BuckT or any other Ohio State fan go on for one more second thinking that this is like the old Cane thing because it isn't. I was also pointing out that they DO have that contempt, but it certainly isn't for the Buckeyes. And no, I am not taking Dave's bait either..
Just making an observation Corey, didn't mean to bring out the profanity. That pumpkin headed coach just won a National Championship, I think the LSU fans are happy with him and it doesn't matter much what the west coast thinks about him. MCG, I'm talking about your approach in general not any one specific comment.
Dave apparently any comment about the OSU/UF game other than UF was the best, most dominant, awesome, etc team is some sort of dig eh. To suggest that maybe OSU wasn't ready to play that day is a dig I guess. Flash to Dave: It happens teams sometimes aren't ready to play for any number of reasons, when they meet a team who is ready to play sometimes you get what you got. That's generally the reason a mid-major team can hang in with a top BCS team. The BCS team isn't ready for a jacked up team who is super motivated and well prepared and a closer than it should be game results or even an upset loss.
No you made a statement that I was hijacking the thread (which you've now done btw)... I just saw the 'tone' of the OSU posts getting a bit overboard or at least close to it with the USC/Cane comparison... At the same time, I don't want people saying I am being an SC homer. They have their thorns as well.. The LSU fans can be happy with him. He has turned that schedule around so now he only has to perform in the SEC. I have a feeling he can't. We'll see.
And to give the other teams all the credit and none to Florida is an obvious dig.....but I should have ignored it.
Those weeks living in SE Michigan leading up to the UF selection for the NC game and their great victory must have scarred you for life.
Corey, I'm not doggin' the SC or west coast fans at all. They have been more than gracious as I would expect - as you well know, we have a very long and wonderful history competing against teams from the left coast. My points were more directed at the national media and even many of our own fans who have been on suicide watch since the OU game....why is OU different than Stanford, except we won....why is LSU in the title game different than Oregon? It's not....I've seen this movie before and I like the ending....that's all. As for me, on this topic, the only thing I'm looking to discuss is Ohio State - SC. If somebody wants to talk about something else, start a new topic.......I'm busy this week! 8)
I'm not on suicide watch, Terry...got the beer and pretzels ready and Crazy John is coming over to sit his sad Michigan @ss down on the couch and root for the Buckeyes along with me. I honestly do not know what will happen...it is great opportunity...I do have concerns about Beanie, though I liked what I saw from Herron.
