No..... it's not Alabama Kp.... LSU's current No. 1 rivalry is not with Alabama or Texas A&M; it is with Florida
Well it's an interesting article, but that writer is FOS. This weekend is a big game no doubt, and no doubt there are probably still some feelings over that Hurricane game. But I'm sorry you can't make me believe that LSU fans have UF as their biggest rival over Alabama.
I can somewhat agree Terry that LSU fans would rather beat Alabama than Florida but they haven't been getting that done at all in recent years and his point is that it diminishes any rivalry when it becomes very one-sided.
Florida may be Georgia's biggest rival (although Ga. Tech may hold that honor) but they are not LSU's biggest rival nor are they Alabama's.
I would disagree that Tech is a bigger rival for Georgia than Florida.... just like I have said the FSU-UF rivalry is a step behind the Fla-Ga rivalry because the noles are not in the SEC. However.... many many years the UF-FSU rivalry has had national significance unlike Ga Tech-Ga. Hey I don't really feel that LSU sneaks in there as our biggest rival.... because we have the other two....plus we have Tenn still when they want to come out and play... but the writer makes a lot of good points about the game being played annually as LSU's east opponent and it being a good enough opponent that it has helped to either derail or propel LSU's season....
I don't know an LSU fan that ranks their rivalry with Florida any higher than #3 and thanks to the many friends I made in the local music business, I know a **** ton of LSU fans. I'd say their rivals are: 1. Alabama (by far) 2. Texas A&M (there's absolutely no love here) 3. Florida (a good college rivalry)
So Bama's order of rivals then is 1) Auburn 2) Tenn 3) LSU So LSU says is number 1 but the Tigers are down at #3 for the Tide....
I don't think that's unusual. Iron Bowl is and has been a rivalry up there with Texas/OU, Ohio State/Mich, Fla/Ga, ND/USC so even though LSU is a big game for both teams it's reasonable to have LSU see it as their big game and Alabama put it behind Auburn in terms of rivalry. Heck when Texas A&M was in the SWC and B12 Texas was their biggest rival, even have mentions of Texas in their fight song. But for Texas our #1 rival has always been Oklahoma. I don't know if back in the Big 8/ B12 days when Nebraska was playing OU every year on Thanksgiving, did OU consider Nebraska their big rival and Texas was #2.
