Speaking of dogs, here's the one we are picking up in about 10 days. We are thinking about naming her killer.

Notre Dame players return to their home since many come from states far away. Each player before he leaves is given a program that the coaches hope he follows. Those living in states with mountains run roads or trails that rise at least 5,000 ft. Those living near lakes try to swim 4 miles a day. Those without mountains of lakes run for 45 min-hr. before weight traiining.
Weight training consists of 3 1/2-4 hrs. of various exercises depending on positon. While strength is the aim of linemen, explosiveness is the prime goal of backs.
After weight training (or before) player usually spend time in summer employment. (It's difficult to get through a whole year on alumni gifts) Catholic players are expected to attend mass every day. Non Catholics only 3 times a week. Community service is optional although most spend 20 hrs. or more a week.
Players report in once a week to their respective coaches to give their progress. Some request additional exercises finding that they proscribed workout is too easy.
The nutritional regimen is also important but we'll skip that for the time being. And of course all players are expected to remain celebant.

So, now that you whiffed on your Drew Sharp argument, is it your claim that teams are limited to 20 hours a week for meeting, conditioning, films, practices?

The NCAA regulations has hourly limitations but also excludes various items being counted. According to the NCAA, non-countable hours include:
I am sure you will be able to provide the names of the OSU and Florida officials who publically support NCAA violations along with a cogent, literate analysis explaining the distinction between countable and non countable hours and the specific rules that were violated, by whom, and when…..

Sorry, Bill, I was busy overestimating Mike's ability to garnish his opinions with facts.

Killer is a red-head, not chocolate? She's adorable.

Well, I blew my billable hours quota today. Thanks, Terry, Goodnight all.....

Please refresh my memory.....I seem to have missed Coach Tressel's support of rules violations.....and yes 18 years ago, Smith quit the team after the prima donna was called out for missing practices, however your version of the facts differ materially from those that were put forth from the principals Smith, the coaching staff, his work supervisor and his prof......perhaps you should give them your version to square accounts. Smith did return to the team.

I'm sorry, did the NCAA rule on the allegations? I must have missed it.

Alright, I guess I'm gonna wiff on this one too. Just point out where I refered to OSU or Florida officials and I'll correct the post. Or as I suspect your apparent assertion that I mentioned them is about as delusional as your post that I somehow wiffed on the "Drew Sharp arguement."

Actually it's a little more subtle that that T. Seems that type of thing happens at OSU too but even though everyone knows of the NCAA rules regarding the amount of time players can spend, the players just want to work so hard that the coaches just can't stop them. If RR gets in trouble for this it may not be the only school having problems.

So, what specific rule was broken? By whom? How was it done? And who is the OSU coach who supporting breaking this kind of rule violation?

    From a post by Bobda
    From gipper
I read that article you posted gipper and all I got from it was that the Ohio State players are abiding by section e above as listed by Bobda. I sure don't see how you would read that article and conclude that other programs might be in trouble.

And I'll say again that if you find out what Notre Dame does I bet you would find a lot of the players in the weight room. And it would include most of the starters.

    Just my humble opinion.

Gip, the quote below was cut and pasted directly from one of your post...
I read the blog.....I'm glad our kids are working hard, thrilled that the upperclassmen are pushing them and hope they never stop. I'm glad the staff is supportive of their efforts, stuggling to find the "rule violations" but from where I sit, what I see is what is required to excel.....at anything - sports, school, life. If kids have no interest in excelling and no desire to put forth the effort required, they need to be somewhere else.......

What happened, whiff on finding a post referring to OSU and Fla. administration members.

To quote from the opening post
Why not write to them and ask them?

I quoted from the Detroit Free Press this
What do you want me to do now, look up the specific regulation? Can't you?

I posted this in response to Bill's post about off season workouts
If you don't agree with any of those, tell me which one.

Lastly, while the OSU players are proud that they ignore the NCAA cap of 20 hrs. per week they claim it is voluntary. Fine, but I have a hard time beleiving that the Michigan players who made the complaints that led to the current NCAA investigation are complaining about "voluntary" conditioning and game preparation. In fact it borders on the absurd. Obviously some folks from Fla. don't see it that way.
