Barnes is blowing it, he's 5 over today. If Glover can just make pars he can win this. Tiger is -2 for the day but he's running out of holes to make a move so he'd have to hope that the leaders come back to him, he's not going to catch them. Phil has more holes but again he's going to have to catch fire or hope the leaders collapse.
Can Glover hold on??? Phil at -3 currently still has to finish at -3 or better and hope for Glover to come back some more. Also could be a 3 way playoff.
Well Phil went backwards and finished -2, Lucas Glover is hanging on at -4 so if he doesn't do anything stupid he should win.
Ya just have to admire the way Duval hung in there today. His first shot costs him 3 strokes and with everyone expecting him to fold he kept it together. That horseshoe on 17 was cruel. I'm pretty sure he now has enough money earned to qualify for the tour next season. Nice to see.
Most disjointed US Open I can remember, and I heard that of the 8 rounds played in the US Open at the Black 7 were rained on, I vote to find another public course. I don't want to see the Open back at the Black. It was pointed out that because of the difference in finances a place like the Masters can clear the greens and fairways very quickly and keep the fairways and greens playable. No more BLACK. Terry
Well I completely misjudged the effect of a wet course on the outcome. The first though you have when the course is soft is that the big hitters will have the advantage, but that is completely wrong. First of all, the USGA shortened the course because of conditions. Second and most importantly, the "classic" Open course has rock hard greens (remember Shinnecock?) The big boys have a hugh advantage because with those type of greens, an 9 iron might hold but a 5 iron probably won't. However on a soft course like Black was, everything was holding and the shorter hitters still could hit it close. Interesting stat. Of the top 15 finishers, only one had to play in the terrible conditions at the start on Thurs. morning. Yep, Eldrick.
