Chicago Shootings Spike 49% In November Despite Country’s Strictest Gun Laws….

    Via CNS News:

There were 192 shootings in Chicago throughout the month of November – a 49 percent increase from a year earlier – according to police records obtained by the Chicago Tribune.

In November of 2011, Chicago recorded 129 shootings compared to the 192 shootings this November. Police records also reveal that shootings increased more than 11 percent in the first 11 months of 2012 compared with a year earlier.

Total homicides in Chicago rose to 480 for the first eleven months of 2012; a 21 percent increase from last year. On November 30, 2012, there were four fatal shootings within the city. These murders brought the homicide total to 38 for the month, just above the 37 recorded in November of last year.

Despite having some of the strictest gun laws in the country, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel plans on restricting gun ownership further by banning individuals with a violent misdemeanor conviction from getting a gun permit for five years. The mayor also hopes to ban convicted felons from ever owning a gun.

Maybe if the passed a law making murder illegal that would stop this....what's that?.....it already is? Why that means bad guys don't really care what the law is. They should pass a law that makes them obey the laws.

Pelosi: Obama Put Forth An “Excellent” Budget Proposal – Reality: It Was Voted Down 414-0 In House, 99-0 In Senate…
    [IMG]
Which begs the obvious question, if it was so “excellent” then why didn’t a single Democrat in either chamber vote for it, including Pelosi herself?

(CNSNews.com) – House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said President Barack Obama’s budget for 2013, which got zero votes in Congress, Democrat or Republican, was “an excellent proposal” for talks dealing with the so-called fiscal cliff.

During a Capitol Hill press conference, Pelosi was asked: “What is the Democratic contingency if the [federal] debt limit isn’t raised before the end of the year and Republicans demand –?”

Pelosi said, “Well, the president has put forth in his budget what I believe to be an excellent proposal. We have said in our budget that passed under the leadership of Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) where we think all of this should go. It’s a negotiation.” [...]

President Obama’s fiscal year 2013 budget, which would have added $6.4 trillion in new deficits over 10 years, received zero votes in Congress. The House defeated the budget 414-0 in March, while the Senate struck it down 99-0 in May. The budget included additional stimulus spending and raising taxes on upper-income earners.

Both of these issues are already federal law. Question 11i on the ATF form 4473 asks: Have you ever been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence? Question 11b and 11c deal with indictment and/or conviction of a Felony.

These new restrictions are nothing new. However, the statement made by the Mayor tells me he has no idea what gun laws are in place already.

You might ask: Can't the purchaser of a gun lie on the ATF form questions? Sure they can. However, if the person does not have a carry permit, the form has to be transmitted to the ATF for a background check. If anything is found on that check, and it can be proven that the gun purchaser new about that being on his/her record, they can be prosecuted. If the person has a carry permit, that background check was performed during the application process for the permit and is done every time the permit is renewed.

Thomas Jefferson warned us to …

Avoid Sustainable Development: “When we get piled upon one another in large cities, as in Europe, we shall become as corrupt as Europe.”

Avoid the Welfare State: “The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not.” “I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.”

Avoid Massive Government Debt: “It is incumbent on every generation to pay its own debts as it goes. A principle which if acted on would save one-half the wars of the world.”

Avoid Government Over-regulation: “My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government.”

Avoid Control of Individual Gun Ownership: “No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms.” “The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.”

Avoid Compulsive Taxation of Income: “To compel a man to subsidize with his taxes the propagation of ideas which he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical.”

Good research, Jim. I would consider Thomas Jefferson a credible source of democracy principles.
