Good read on a teacher's thoughts about re-opening:
Nobody Asked Me: A Teacher’s Opinion on School Reopening

All of those concerns make sense and for anyone that has given this any thought with regard to how reopening schools will be affected by Covid 19 it's not surprising.
Wishful thinking "from the gut" doesn't take care of the real issues teachers will face in this pandemic.

The cool thing about America is that we still have choices, as hard as that is to believe this year. You dont want your kid to go to school, dont send them. You dont want to be a teacher? Start updating your resume then. Time to start moving forward and attack.

Going golfing soon. Riding in a cart with someone not in my household. Gonna get drinks from the cart girl who's not wearing a mask or gloves, and receive hi fives from the other 3 in the group after all my birdies. Maybe just one birdie. The we're gonna sit down at the same table, Closer than 6 feet, shoot the ****, breath the same air, and shake hands goodbye. We do that here in the motherland. You're welcome to move here if you like that personal mindset. Just be aware we changed our signs last year from "Welcome to Nebraska, The good life", to "It's not for everyone".

I read it also. It's one teachers opinion and not gospel like you want to make it in your little hate Trump world. That's the extent of conversation you will get from me until you take a more reasonable approach.

My eldest son taught school for 4 years and was saying how school budgets appropriated millions of dollars in recent years to get rid of individual desks and go to those community tables with chairs in K thru 6.
So is DeSantis gonna toss those and go back to individual desks? It shouldn’t be hard.... no problem.... they do it overseas where their daily new case rate is lower than Duval County where the GOP convention will be held. And LMAO it’s a very very large world that hates Trump and a tiny one ( a few million in the US and one in the Kremlin ) who adores him...

My point is George that until Trump and his ass kissing lackeys like Ron DeSantis face this virus spread head on..... and quit saying stupid baseless **** like "it's under control.... opening schools should be no problem"....."we're in a great place" etc. etc..... and start dealing with limiting the spread in every way possible.... listening to their medical experts instead of "their gut".... the 10,500 new cases in Florida yesterday will be turning into 15,000 daily.... 20,0000 or more daily????
Come on who is buying their crap?? Their dwindling base and Fox News commentators is about it......

Here is the " good place" we're currently in:
"Florida has been seeing a dramatic uptick in cases in recent weeks. The state reported 15,299 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday, the highest number of new cases reported in a single day by any state since the pandemic began. The test positivity rate in Florida currently stands at 19.60%, according to Johns Hopkins University.
In the past weeks, the state broke multiple records of single-day highs in new cases and reported another 10,360 new infections Saturday. Around 40 hospitals across the state have no ICU beds available and more than 7,000 patients are hospitalized statewide with the virus, state data showed Saturday."

And the death rate per capita in Florida is still 1/10th of New York's. As the death rate per capita in the US is much less than Europe. Without New York it'd be even more dramatic.

"Another study by researchers at New South Wales' National Centre for Immunisation Research and Surveillance published last month that looked at staff and students at five primary schools and 10 high schools from March to mid-April found that, out of 863 people who were in close contact with someone with Covid-19, only two, or 0.23%, contracted the new coronavirus. The researchers concluded that transmission of the coronavirus "in children in schools appears considerably less than seen for other respiratory viruses, such as influenza."

And a third study that examined a cluster of Covid-19 cases in the French Alps found that a nine-year-old who attended three different schools while showing symptoms of Covid-19 didn't infect anyone. "It would be almost unheard of for an adult to be exposed to that many people and not infect anyone else," said Alasdair Munro, a pediatric infectious-diseases researcher at University Hospital Southampton.

John Edmunds, a member of Britain's Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies, noted that, so far, there's "only one documented [Covid-19] outbreak associated with a school." He said, "[Y]ou would normally expect most of the outbreaks to be associated with schools but yet in global literature there is only one documented study. … It is pretty remarkable."

But not all health experts—or research—are in agreement"

Can children spread the new coronavirus? Here's what research says.

"But research has yet to show whether young children transmit the new coronavirus at a similar rate as adults. "What we don't know yet is the degree to which children can transmit the virus," said Danielle Zerr, an infectious disease expert at Seattle Children's Hospital."

Not knowing that rate of transmission and considering that kids have for the most part in The U.S. remained socially isolated at home for months means we just don't know what's going happen when the kids get in to close daily contact with each other and their teachers. Could open schools and have to suddenly re-close if the virus explodes like it has here in Florida. And at what age are kids more like adults in their transmission capabilities..... 8th grade? 10th grade? 12th grade?

Don't know...just saying that there is plenty of room for honest discussion on what to do...without all your hyperbole and sarcasm. You label all of us as being in denial just because we see not only the devastating effects of the virus, but also the possibility and evidence that places that have shut down haven't stopped it either...and the absolutely devastation and crippling (possibly forever) effect that too much shutdown can have on the future of our country and our children/grandchildren.

DeVoss conveys no particular plan to protect our students and teachers when schools reopen.
Tip top conditioned college football players and their macho coaches are unable to deal with the virus this fall yet we send forth our kids to basically fend for themselves. Everyone is for kids back in school but not without direction and a safe plan. Expecting little kids to wear masks and stay apart is one hell of a pipe dream though. The best alternative is doing everything possible to eliminate the new spread of the virus.
Meanwhile Trump is now on TV live showing how math and science were not his strong suit in school.
Believe it or not he just said if we cut the tests in half we cut the new cases in half..... and if we cut them in half again we only have 1/4 of the new cases that we have now.

My feeble brain tells me that new cases are being transmitted by people... humans that have the virus whether they are tested or not.
By Trump's estimating prowess all we have to do to eliminate Covid-19 is to STOP TESTING!!!!
What in the hell are we waiting on..... STOP THE TESTING!!
I guess it's just that simple...... right???

Trump now has a method by which to eliminate all Democrats in the U.S.....
    just QUIT ASKING!!! LOL
