Corey, did you try Eastchase and/or Prattville? Lots of choices from major chains and both are about 10 minutes from the campus.
Stu, I have a friend who described Paris this way "It's a lot like New York City except there are a lot more people in Paris who speak English."
Makes sense, Gip. London same thing. Lots of accents and poor English. I can tell it’s London and not Paris, though. The restrooms are NOT unisex, are free, and they are clean.
KP, We were on the verge of going that route but we found a Days Inn in Montgomery that was about 10 min local drive from campus and it took us through the profanely wealthy subdivisions surrounding Huntingdon. It was a nice little drive and we were rubber necking that whole 10 minutes. Just mansion after mansion, it was quite impressive. We all wound up having a great time and Harlow was incredibly well behaved again, so it was a good trip. And, this time I remembered the turn to cut right by ASU and hop on the interstate so I didn't have to take the 'historic tour' of Montgomery's ghetto.
KP, You ain't kidding, brother. On the way down there, I was getting a bit worried. Then we hung a left and I began to breathe a bit easier. Funny enough, 2 miles to our left was a strip with an 'adult novelty store' that looks like an AIDS trap and 2 miles to our right was a 'no tell motel' with a hooker out in front, but where we were was actually fine.
Yes some those very old houses are beautiful and some of the 100 year old neighborhoods are very nicely preserved also. Kind of like Albany section of Decatur. They are doing nice things downtown too. Nice restaurants and bars around the the baseball stadium downtown. Go Biscuits!
Yeah, I am going to have a lot of fun exploring that place over the next 4 years hopefully. Right now, all my trips are anchored around things like a 12+ hour orientation.
