I haven't picked yet. But I have a question......... Is it legal for me to pick Texas for the pie but root for the SEC team?? I need an answer.
My true prediction regardless of the pie bribe is Texas by 3. Where does this come from? #1 is the Heisman jinx. I know that it does not happen every year but Eddie George still speaks of it today. Teams with the Heisman winner tend to have a letdown in their bowl game. Without the jinx, I would say Bama by 3 but Texas is going to win. I am amazed by all the Texas fans I see around here. Not one of them I have spoken to have had anything but respect for Bama. If the team is anything like the fans, Texas is going in expecting a dog fight and that, I believe, will work in their favor. Hook 'em Horns!!!
Last year many of these same Bama players allowed disresepect to get them beat in the Sugar Bowl. With that precedence in mind I wonder if some of those same players feel as strongly about Texas and their capability as they did about Fla in Atlanta this year. They were obviously focused and determined and respectful of the Gators but maybe not so much vs. Texas.....maybe. If this happens.....then the Tide could definitely lose this game.
Bill, the pecans in the pie are as big as your hand. They either were grown in the soil of Texas or Three Mile Island. After reviewing Terry's e-mails, I did more research about the game and offer the revised prediction. Big Ass Pecan Pie 24 Bame 10
Kp, that almost sounds like an offer I can't refuse. Can you get Corey on board with that promise too?
Blowout city..... If there is a chance one team or the other blows the game wide open I have to go with Alabama as the only team with a chance to do that......based soley on their solid win over Florida. If this happens that would make two in a row that the Bama coaches were better prepared than the other team and the players were motivated to the highest level. I just don't think Texas has the potential for anything other than a close win if everything goes their way.
I'm hoping for the Alabama team that barely edged out a home win vs Tenn! Also hoping Texas familiarity with the Rose Bowl, Disneyland trips, and Hollywood lights vs the first time for Alabama gives us a little edge as well.
Well Terry since everyone agrees that week-to-week-to-week every team is always the same....plays to the same level of intensity and you always get their best shot then I don't see any difference in the Bama team that barely squeaked by Tenn by the slimmest of margins and the one that handled Florida easily in Atlanta. Same players.....same coaches....same team... In fact can you just imagine what Tenn could have done to Cincinatti seeing as how Florida destroyed the Bearcats?
The week before Florida Alabama only was ahead in their game with Auburn when they went on a long drive to score at the end of the game. Also if Tennessee had a better kicker they would have beat Bama. Personally I think Bama has a tough time performing at the level they did against Florida and Texas on the other hand can likely play better than they did against Nebraska. Football is a game of momentum, the game should end in a blowout either way. It also can be an exciting game. I'm hoping for the latter. I'm pulling for the SEC to get their 4th in a row, however my gut tells me that Texas will be in this game all the way and has a very good chance.
I guess that makes just two of us. The bottom line is that anyone who thinks UF performed at the same level vs. FSU and vs. Cincinatti and vs. Alabama didn't watch any of those games. Granted Bama had a large influence on that but I didn't see even 30 seconds of hard nosed, hard hitting defense in the Bama game and I saw that the whole first half and played with great intensity vs. Cincinatti. I don't know why...may never know why....but that's how it was.
