Conspiracy theorists just might be the ones who blame Trump for the whole thing when it is affecting the entire world...and very few places have been lucky enough or clever enough to do much better.

Well this is the kind of sick **** that makes me despise Trump. To suggest that anyone would actually delay a theraputic cure for Covid-19 because of the November election is just plain sick..... and evil.

    From Fox News:

"Earlier in the day, the president suggested someone at the FDA was purposefully trying to delay clinical trials for therapeutics and vaccines for political purposes.

“Obviously, they are hoping to delay the answer until after November 3rd,” Trump tweeted, referring to Election Day. “Must focus on speed, and saving lives!”

TRUMP ACCUSES 'DEEP STATE' FDA OF THWARTING EFFORTS FRO COROANVIRUS TREATMENTS UNTIL AFTER ELECTION

The president didn’t expand on the accusation or provide any evidence.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi quickly rebuked the president's accusation as “dangerous.”
"The FDA has a responsibility to approve drugs, judging on their safety and their efficacy, not by a declaration from the White House about speed and politicizing the FDA," Pelosi said in a news conference on Capitol Hill, according to The Hill.

"This was a very dangerous statement on the part of the president. Even for him, it went beyond the pale in terms of how he would jeopardize the health and well-being of the American people."

"Trump’s tweet appears to be partially in response by a move by the FDA to stop the planned emergency use authorization for blood plasma as a treatment for COVID-19 patients. The FDA was reportedly planning last week to allow emergency use of blood plasma. But The New York Times reported that the authorization is now on hold after experts, including Dr. Anthony Fauci, said evidence supporting the move was not strong enough."

Does seem kind of strange that they would do this. I thought the immune plasma treatment was pretty established.

Article on this in the Houston Chronicle.

A leading Methodist official Wednesday said the hospital system isn’t happy the FDA has delayed its plan to grant emergency approval to the therapy. Such approval would allow all hospitals to deploy the therapy, not just academic ones as part of clinical trials.

Are we talking about the same FDA that completely screwed up the original testing kits?

That ******* Fauci will do anything to keep Trump from being re-elected in November..... the nerve of that guy. Jesus Christ man..... WTF is wrong with Trump?

Gipper I have been thinking lately how a major part of the success Trump has in duping his base into believing he is all world and defending every gaffe or lie or misrepresentation he presents is that he is an expert at deflecting his character flaws and missteps by dredging up some past barely related "similar" misstep by his opposition that either isn't that similar or pales in comparison to what he did or that is completely untrue and everyone has to flock to fact check to see if it is.
Many times you have used that sort of argument in your man love defense of Trump and this statement you make about the FDA screwing up test kits to somehow prove they would stoop to delaying a real theraputic for Covid-19 just because of the November election is a good example of that.

PS; The Dems have accused Trump of caring more about the economy (and thus his election) than the virus. Now they are blaming the economic loss caused by the virus on Trump. I see that as duplicitous...how is that a "conspiracy theory" on my part?

Stu lets not forget that the claim he didn't take the virus seriously at first. Of course while he was shutting down the border, Biden and the rest were opposing the move and calling him xenophobic. It was the boob in the basement who didn't take it seriously at first.

And then there was Fauci trying to hamstring Trump so deviously by inferring once in early March that we didn't need to wear masks.... a mantra that he repeated never again and refuted 1000 times yet it is his lasting philosophy somehow when the right talks about not wearing masks.

Fauci also said in late Jan. that there was no person to person transmission with Covid. Sometimes following the science can be doing the wrong thing.

I'm not so much an anti-Fauci guy. The science is what it is and it changes over time. Both sides have politicized science and that is a problem.

I think the phrase follow the science is vastly over used. A lot of what is called science is just one persons opinion vs another persons opinion

So follow a team of scientists and epidemiologists who have PHDs on the subject and many years of experience or accept the opinion of a real estate tycoon ex-reality TV Star who is in heat over trying to get re-elected.

    Hmmmmmm...... tough choice.... NOT.

There are scientists and epidemiologists who have PhDs on the subject and many years of experience who disagree with you...should I make fun of your (I assume) lack of a PhD on the subject?

Again, you blame him for trying to keep the economy afloat...then blame him for our economic woes caused by all the shutdowns preached by your beloved scientists. Not sayin' I disagree with them but try to be a little consistent. Try to see the flip side of the coint...Try to...oh, never mind.

    Just finished watching Chernobyl.

The scientists running the reactor who were under under political pressure basically helped to cause the disaster and the resultant cover-up that was fueled by the same political pressure caused many needless deaths.
Only the nuclear physicists true to their knowledge kept the damn thing from poisoning the world and the one who spilled the beans was villified by the political arm of the Soviet Union and ultimately committed suicide rather than live the isolated life they condemned him to.
Good thing a Trump running for re-election hasn't had that kind of a **** show here to resolve or we would all literally be toast.

Slight difference. We don’t have a single political arm. Nor does either side have a monopoly on science. If I hear “follow the science” used hypocritically one more time by either side I think I’ll puke.

And let's not mistake Trump for a skilled economist.

He's a bankruptcy expert, possible tax evader and a TV showman.

Well his policies certainly improved the economy by just about any standard you want to look at.
