On another note, at least for now, the penalties are going against LSU. We won't have to listen to Dave's rants about the refs!
Announcer Verne Lundquist showing a lot of man love for TT in his commentary. My personal record for projectile vomiting is 8'7" but I could threaten it tonight if he say "that's vintage Tebow" one more time....
When Dave brings up how the refs robbed the Gators will someone please remind him of the blatant offensive pass interference that was not called on Florida on the first touchdown catch. That missed call probably changed the game.
I was thinking of Dave watching that entire first half. The uncalled, blatant OPI is the difference in the game right now.. Well that, and LSU's terrible offense. That and Florida getting away with faking the snap on damned near every single play in the 1st half. That's incredible. The center got away with it and was getting more and more reckless till they finally nabbed him in the 3rd qtr I believe. Tebow's move to get the signal from the sideline should be a penalty also. he snaps his head and steps toward the line of scrimmage before continuing on to turn to the sideline.. I can't believe that the 'letter of the law' SEC refs are letting them get away with that school yard crap. Two good defensive squads though.
That LSU offense just hasn't been much this year has it...of course the UF defense wasn't going to let it get started tonight. BTW: I'm sure Dave will have a long list of calls against UF that if they hadn't been made UF would have scored more points. Today certainly has been full of some ugly wins, Texas, Ohio State, now UF. ...but wins never the less.
T, UF's defense is legit. There's no question about that. I'd give them more credit for LSU's showing tonight except that LSU has looked bad on O all year.
I'll go ahead and congratulate the Gators with less than 2 minutes to go... as long as they don't throw another interception. Terry, One win today was quite pretty!
Thanks Tom, regardless of that td play the better team won tonight. Geez Corey, I know I've complained about SEC refs in the past, but according to you the Gators committed a foul on about every offensive play. Oh well I'll just have to settle for a win.
Bill, Actually, in the 1st half offensively you did. Even that moron of a commentator noticed it in the 2nd quarter finally. The first time Tebow made that motion, I thought.. 'hmm well, the officials cut him some slack'.. After the 3rd or 4th time he did it, I knew it was no accident. Still, that would have been a bit ticky tack. That's something in this day and age of spread option that the rules committee should look at in the office season. The clear violation was your center. He would quickly in an animated motion snap his head to the left about a 2 count before he'd actually snap the ball. That's illegal. To his credit, he kept doing it until they finally called him on it. BTW-is there a worst offensive coordinator than Crowton at LSU? How bad do you have to be to NOT have a good offense annually at BYU? The product he is putting on the field at LSU was rightfully ripped on Game night. If both Holtz and May agree that your plan sucked, it probably wasn't very good. Hats off to the Gators though. They don't have many tests on the schedule but they are handling them as they come.
Corey, as much as I enjoy a lot of your commentary I am not buying that the Gators committed so many fouls that were not called. Now that td pass, I admit to that one. I agree the Gators are doing what they have to do. However you won't believe how many Gator fans are not satisfied that we win but think we aren't winning big enough. They want the fun and gun and this defense. Personally I am very satisfied. Very.
Bill, Get a DVR of the game and you'll see what I mean. Hell, it's not a penalty if they aren't calling it. The Pouncey kid had balls to keep doing it so often. I know the fair weathered fans all too well. Even if God decides to grace us with the miracle and ND beats USC next weekend, there will be countless a-holes doing a facepalm because their dreams of having Charlie gone would be dashed badly. It makes you wonder about people at times. You guys just set your date for Atlanta tonight.
I haven't seen LSU play before tonight but it's hard to believe that team was undefeated coming in. That is one of the worst offenses I've seen this year. Congrats to the Gators. And I'm sure Lundquist had some explaining to do when he got home..... at one point in the 4th quarter I thought he would lean out of the booth and throw his hotel key at Tebow.
You are right in that the first few minutes made me think LSU was not going to get any benefit at all from the refs last night and in the final analysis they didn't but there were some calls later ( including a couple of PFs on UF ) that seemed to indicate no ref bias in the game and all in all they called a pretty good even game. Danielson explained that unless LSU touched our center there wasn't going to be a call on the head snap so when the Tiger DL did just that UF was called on procedure and ceased the activity after that. UF was knocking at the door all night offensively and thoroughly dominated LSU's offense and that has nothing to do with Riley's maneuver to get open. I will agree he got away with one on that play but UF probably would have done something different on other drives if they don't get in on that one which was in the 2nd quarter. Hey....I would have been happy with a 9-3 victory over a team that had not lost in 32 straight Sat. night games at home!
Gee George, did it ever occur to you that the Gator defense might have had something to do with how the LSU offense looked? Our defense has only given up two touchdowns all year. Hey if Lundquist throws keys at Tebow I'm ok with that as long as they don't hit him in the head or eye and injure him.
I'm not defending LSU as a whole....I think they may lose three games.....but they were undefeated...ranked #4....and managed to win at Washington a little bit easier than ND beat the Huskies in SB.....note I said a little bit easier. ....and....they had managed to pull out wins in BR 32 straight times on Sat. night and that's a stat worth talking about when you hold them to 3 points and 167 yards of total offense.
