It looks like a NE linebacker recruited by Bob Devaney is entering the portal. Seventh-year Nebraska linebacker Will Honas has entered the transfer portal.
Hunter Johnson, one time 5 star recruit who started at Clemson, saw the handwriting on the wall when Trevor Lawrence showed up and left for Northwestern where he didn't play much, has returned to Clemson. But it wasn't to play football, but to work on his MBA. Dabo offered him a job, holding a clipboard no doubt. Johnson said he was initially planning to apply to Clemson's MBA program and had approached Swinney about serving as a graduate assistant in 2022. Swinney instead asked if he'd be open to playing another season. "I'm really looking at this as an opportunity to come in and help the team in any way I can," Johnson said.
You can transfer as many as you want, but only one without penalty. UNLESS, you are a graduate, which that kid is.
Scott, are you aware the NCAA is looking for people who are familiar with the transfer rules? You will not be an enforcer, just an extremely knowledgable individual, who can make quick and accurate decisions.
I'm sure that any impediments to unlimited transfer without any consequences will soon be litigated out of existence.
I learned yesterday that NIL agreements extend to high school children. A 16 year old high school wrestler has signed with a prepared meals company in the area to be one of the faces of their service. Apparently he gets free food in addition to a small monetary stipend. His quote? Right now its just "gas money".
The one big potential downside I can see from this approach is assimilation. You have these transfer for 1-2 years. There is no time to bring team or school culture into the equation or even time to really coach them or de-program bad habits. You have to take 10 players from different backgrounds and get them to play together under a new system Now! NO time to mess around.
I think everybody thought he was headed to Alabama, since his reason for leaving was so his parents and family didn't have to travel to see him play. I guess Alabama didn't need a punter, but with Kelly and Polian at LSU this makes sense as well. Good luck to him
