Urbie and Timmy <t>Sid,<br/> <br/> These Florida guys have me convinced now. Tim Tebow is the GREATEST football player in the history of college football and Urban Meyer is the GREATEST college football coach of all time!! We might as well quit denying it and get on board with them. I'm sure they are correct, just read College Football Report and see for yourself! Go Tim!, Go Urban!</t>
Hey...I didn't write the article or the hundreds like it by the time he is done with his college career. ESPN will probably cover this topic three dozen times at least between now and next Jan. so don't blame me when it comes up.
Here's a thought....I believe there is no question Tim Tebow could play in the type of offense used by ND in the late 40s....but I am not so sure a guy like Lujack could play in Urban's Meyer's spread option against the speed of today's defenses. Not to mention that 14 game Gator schedule that includes 9 SEC games in lieu of some of the Tulane's, Navys, etc. that Lujack went up against.
Wow....here was a hugely impressive team in 1947....the year ND won one of their voted upon NCs.... The University of Michigan....who went 10-0 and blasted SouCal in the Rose Bowl 49-0....and outscored their opponents 394 to 53..... ......but.....as we all have heard that ND National Championship was sooooo much better than anything Florida has won lately.......
Re: Urbie and Timmy <r><QUOTE><s> </e></QUOTE> Tim, how about doing me a favor and tell me just what Florida <B><s></s><SIZE size="200"><s></s><COLOR color="orange"><s></s>Guys</COLOR></SIZE><e></e></B><i></i> you are talking about.<br/> <br/> Thanks in advance.</r>
What a load of horse ****. You're sure that Tebow could play in ND's offense in the 1940s... are you sure he could play in Texas Techs? Are you sure he could play in a real pro set that would keep him in the pocket? Total ********. And Bill, the guys angle comes from you taking Tim to task for what he says while looking the other way to the sheer crazy ******** being spit forth by Dave. Not to mention the other Gator who would post tit for tat alongside Dave with stuff like this. He hasn't posted in a while, but there is certainly more than one who trolls these boards. You're defending national champs and you have the best college football player in the nation... That still isn't enough. You have to be the greatest team of all-time and Tebow must be the greatest player ever.. And anyone who disagrees, is a total jackass flying in the face of the most obvious facts known to all. hogwash.
That may be George but I suspect UF could survive a loss at LSU for instance and still make the BCS title game and a chance for redemption.
of course they could Dave... and this system isn't skewed in the least bit. But if you lose playing that schedule you won't deserve the title game.
Corey, if you are referring back a couple of months ago, I took Tim to task because of what he said and how he said it. When you say you want a team to lose all their games, go on probation or something along those lines you can hardly complain about someone the approach someone else takes. I stay on the sideline frequently because I don't agree with Dave's approach and I don't agree with much of what some of you say about the Gators. That explanation doesn't hold water. I still would like to know just what guys Tim is talking about.
Corey....it's enough for me but you have had a problem with the method in which Florida has achieved titles...enough of a problem that to me you do question the credibility of those titles. I decided to go back and check ND's title competition in some years they won their mythical NCs and I only pulled up one year and discovered that great unbeaten Michigan team in 1947. Obviously in today's BCS world there would have been a fantastic BCS title game between UM and ND that year and the eventual champion would have more credibility with me than I am giving it now after that research. I am sure that I could find a similar situation in most years if I looked at all of the years in which the Irish won their MNCs.
Re: tebow <r><QUOTE><s> </e></QUOTE> You know Tim, if you want I am more than willing to discuss more with you the childish, arrogant way you made your comments a month or so ago.<br/> <br/> Terry has no worry what-so-ever. He's always a gentleman, knows how to state his opinion like an adult and doesn't lower himself to wishing ill on a whole program in a bitter tirade.<br/> <br/> And unlike you I don't hold a grudge against the whole Notre Dame nation because of one poster who expresses himself poorly.<br/> <br/> I consider almost every Notre Dame on this board a friend. Not that I agree with all of their positions but over the years have learned respect for them and the Notre Dame program.<br/> <br/> But you want to keep up with these little bitter comments I would be more than happy to keep replying with my perspective of your perspective.</r>
Re: tebow <r><QUOTE><s> </e></QUOTE> Well Timmy, if there are thousands of article then it probably isn't just us Gator Guys here on Skybox writing them.</r>
Bill.....why do I get the feeling that if it's "Notre Dame" week on ESPN's College Football Live then that's the normal, expected type of reporting but if it's "Florida Week" then all of a sudden MCG is digging out stories about those overhyped Gators just to make Skyboxers mad. Geez.... In case anyone wonders CFB Live did indeed have a Gator week and followed that up with a Notre Dame week.
NEXT WEEK IT'S HUSKER WEEK WITH A SPECIAL ENCORE PRESENTATION OF......YOU GUESSED IT!! THE GATOR BOWL!!
Dave, maybe someday you will get it and know your approach is what brings most of this about. AJ, I can hardly wait for that Gator Bowl presentation, We are leaving KC Tuesday, I hope my hotel has internet so I can catch that Gator Bowl.
Bill....I do get it and I always have but I also always refuse to agree that the old school teams and their championships.....like ND in 1947....are any more important than what Florida has been accomplishing over the last 18 years or so. Most of the time the attitude we get here and elsewhere in football fandom is that if you didn't do it 50 years ago it doesn't count now. I don't subscribe to that theory whether it be Alabama, Michigan, ND or USC.
