I guess you feel like I've felt about the last 3 ND hires, OK I'll get on board but I'm not pumped up. Bottom line is most of us fans quickly change our tune when and if the guy starts to impress us with results on the field and forget our dreams of hiring some big name homerun type of coach. Terry
I don't know that there was any one guy out there that would have made me jump up and down. SOS would've made me raise an eyebrow, and Tedford would have made the offense interesting, but honestly I just wanted Fran gone. Once that happened, the rest is gravy. I'm curious to see how this will go, and fairly confident we'll be at the least up off the Big 12 cellar floor. Can MS take us to the top? I have no idea. Will we play much better fundamental football? I'm almost certain of it. We have been so blantantly bad for the last 5 years, I'm happy with that simple idea...
8) Sherman who??? Wow....is this program on a short budget??....sounds like a replay that brought inept Larry Coker to head coach at UM....very weird and fast decision....don't see recruits being overwhelmed by this choice
One thing Fran did for Sherman is that he already had a full class of recruits onboard. Frequently the transition class for this type of situation is small, but if Sherman can hold on to the 24 guys that Fran has lined up for him then he'll be way ahead of the game. If he can convince a guy like Sam McGuffie to stay home, and McGuffie might be in play with the situation at Michigan, he'll have an outstanding class. Not to mention that the Talented jr's in the Greater Houston Area are all familar with Sherman because he's on Kubiaks staff. Terry
