Said the Alabama fan living in this place...This is a place with ten times the amount of Jesus as it has reason. It's got 2 main streets and a spectacular selection of fast food, just so long it's a main national chain. It has a dying mall. It's a town in which racism and segregation are still quietly very much alive..This is a city in which people (young and old) still openly refer to blacks as 'n*ggers' when they aren't in the room and even more terrifying, sometimes regardless of how many are in the room. This is a city whose police department went out of their way to bury evidence in an attempt to put an innocent young man on death row so as to protect the wealthy (secretly gay) doctor friend of theirs who snapped one day and killed his wife because he didn't like the way their swingers couple setup was working out.

You don't have to believe me. There's ******* court documentation for all that, including being admonished by the FBI. (btw, the police dept was not so much as disciplined by the city or public at all...much to the shock and horror or the news teams covering it, especially those at WHNT (the CBS affiliate) who sat through every minute of every trial in the case).

It's a city that destroys small business, unless you're supporting of 'their' small businesses.

This is an area in which the Catholic Church has to lock its door for fear of attack and vandalism, which is totally justifiable because dickheads have walked right into the middle of a service and smashed the alter before. (You can look that up too)

It's a city that's great if you fit the white, protestant Tide/Tiger mold. The less you stray from that mold, the more likely you are to love it.

You are correct though, for Alabama.. it's ******* right as rain. I couldn't imagine living in Moulton.. or Colbert Heights.. or Trinity..

There's a reason all that new money in this area stays over in Madison or the new tracts in Huntsville.. and it's got **** to do with label or the mailing address...

The whole place smells like burned cat food on one side of town and sewage on the black end of town. Again, all things you can read lots of born and raised southerners talking about. Hell, you can even see my son's brother...Southern born and raised who actually ran away to move back to Alabama as a teen, he'll be taking his degree and his NASA job offer then getting TFO the second my son is just slightly older. He only stays here because he's afraid of his little brother being swallowed up into the mold here..

Or you're right...it could just be me... The guy who has been happy in every place he's lived, except this one.

    Corey,
Why do you stay in Decatur then? There are other choices. You said you liked Florence? How about Huntsville? Madison? Since those places are apparently where everyone else prefers to live.

    That's a very 'here' answer.

(insist there's all these messed up items)
-I agree those things are messed up but they don't exist here.
    (yes, they do)
    -That stuff doesn't exist!
(provides clear evidence that it does)
-Well then why don't you get the hell out?

(wonder where the original shared contempt for those things that are 'wrong' went)...

As for why I stay here, it's the same reason I came back here. Leaving is not such a black/white issue.

You can deny that these things exist, let alone in abundance... I begin to show you oh so slightly that they do, in fact, exist....

And your response is... why don't you move?

Don't take it personally, it's the standard reply. I'm actually sitting here with friends having a laugh over the denials...and Bobda's response in the other thread.. that's just priceless... but you guys say it doesn't exist so.. I guess that settles that.

    Sid,

Thanks.. I was nowhere near 6'1" 187lbs at 13 years old though.
He goes through the same things I do. I'll make sure he knows they are all imaginary...

I asked why don't you move to Madison or Huntsville? You mentioned those as more desirable spots. I mean if I hated one town....well I would leave that town. I'm glad I can provide you and your friends some amusement anyway.

Because I simply can't... and in this forum, that's as much as I get into.

I mean, I could move... but then things would go badly... so badly.

Well baring a miracle this game is over. I hope our guys come out in the 2nd half and give a good acccount of themselves and maybe put up a couple of scores. But I won't be surprised if Bama doesn't shut us out and score a few more times. This is starting to look like that Beat down of Gators by Nebraska in 95.

Well Congrats to kp and the bama fans, the Tide was just dominant tonight. I was glad we came out and showed some chest in the 2nd half and at least got a couple of scores and forced a couple of punts. But no doubt Bama is the best team in college football...no doubt.

Boba email me the address you want you BAPP sent! :)

Class is class Husker...if the Gator fans are feeling good about themselves imagine how the Louisville folks are feeling.....tonite is Bama's nite, I don't think KP is looking to pick up any hitchhikers, tho there are many, for lack of a worthy vehicle, looking for a ride.... well done Bama, well done Saban
