I know you depend on tangible reasons for winning. However, think about this: The Heisman vote may have been the best thing for Notre Dame as a team. Typically, not every time, but typically, the Heisman winning team is not as successful in the bowl game. Notre Dame might just have the intangible edge.

It's a team no one respected to start the year (myself included). They've fully convinced some hardline asshole ND fans (myself and Krebs included) and forced us into several mouths full of crow.

People keep telling them what they can't do, and all they do is win.. Being a dog despite being number one won't hurt either.. Still, all this matters not come coin flip time.

Corey, I have also found Auburn fans to be among the best that visit the Swamp. Most of us Gator fans hate that we had to give up Auburn as an annual opponent.

 I agree with Tom I think Mante not winning the Heisman gave the team motivation to win this for him and Kelley It will be a long game but I think that they will win out... and Be No 1 couldnt think of a better way to salute a captain of his magnitude. GO IRISH!

Each school got 17K tickets and had to distribute them to their fans. There has been a lot of talk on ND boards about the way ND chose to run their lottery, more than a little dissatisfaction with some of the allotment going to Anthony travel who in turn sold them at a premium with travel packages, and too few going to students and alumni.

Alabama seems to have a simpler method according to this article. Irish had 100K of requests for tickets and Alabama 42K requests.

    Tickets to the Game

Interesting criticism about the unknown alumni (cough, cough, Sid) who put up the money to reduce student costs for a ticket from 300$ to 150$. It seems as it increased the interest in student tickets so more were in the lottery and some speculation that some of those will resell their tickets for a fat profit on Stubhub.

Not sure how I feel about this......Pac12 refs will officiate the game. Apparently, the BCS conferences rotate officials for the championship game, but the conference refs of the teams involved are excluded. The Big12 refs did last year's game.

An Auburn company has come up with this T Shirt design for those Auburn fans who want to root for Notre Dame. :)

Will they sell even one of those? I know a whole lot of Auburn fans and alums and I don't know of a single one that will root for the Irish.

As I told you before, I enjoyed all of my game day experiences in Tuscaloosa. I took way more heat for being an ND fan in Auburn than I did Tuscaloosa, which I found laughable. I guess it is possible a few dozen crazies will buy them, but I can't see it.

A few weeks ago I ponied up too much money to get a ticket to the game. I used a credit card that has for a billing address my office. I selected the office as the delivery address since it would match the billing address and there's always plenty of people there to take delivery.
So I received an email the other day stating that my ticket had been sent fedex and I was excited about getting my hands on it. Well whoever made the shipping arrangements specified that the delivery take place on Dec. 24 (Maybe they though it would be some sort of holiday gift.)
In any event, knowing that my office would be closed today, I tried to pick it up at the local distribution center on Sat. knowing that it has been there since 7:51 AM Friday. Naturally the moron behind the counter told me that I couldn't pick it up that day because delivery was specified for the 24th. I explained to her that the office was closed on Christmas Eve but she didn't give a damn.
So I'm writing this from the lobby of my closed office where I've been for the last hour and will be for who knows how long waiting to take delivery of my ticket. Now it might be possible for the building security guard to take delivery but I'm not sure that the delivery instructions include that I give a DNA sample.
I've got grandkids at home who are returning to Columbus later today and I'd like to be there to at least say "goodbye." Meanwhile I'll just sit here in the lobby fuming about how f'n stupid this is.
