Terry, what NIL deal will he be getting in Austin? (the kid ain't going anywhere without the benjamins!)
Don't know but I would agree he's likely figured in the NIL in his decision. His NIL with that Autograph company that is reportedly worth big $$ probably travels with him no matter where he plays.
Yeah I think he is out for the bowl game but he was slated to be their starter next season, as far as I know. I wonder if Harsin wants to go in another direction with a recruit of his own for next.year?
You're right, he's done for this year. He's doing a Grad Transfer and will be looking to play next fall. I do think it's a bit odd though unless Harsin has told him that they want to go with the QB who played in the Alabama game for the future.
Kedon Slovis the USC QB who was the starter after JT Daniels went down, and was the starter this season till an injury got Jaxon Dart into the lineup. I assume that Dart has moved ahead of him with Riley. Slovis had some big games but he also had a stellar WR group that graduated. This year he had the one WR who is a top rated draft pick but not a lot of other highly rated wR's. There is a 5 star freshman coming with Riley so the QB room was probably too crowded for him.
Zach Calzada enters the portal. Going to be a thin QB room for the Aggies for the Bowl game. Haynes King is not playing, and that leaves 1 guy a walk-on. I wonder why these guys are all going to the portal before their bowl games? Heck will Haynes King even be ready for the Spring? Is Connor Weigman going to be an early enrollee?
I'm a bit surprised. Guess Zach figured he'd be buried next season and wanted to get a head start. Makes me wonder if anyone is going to play in the bowl game???
Got a little more info:. Calzada had to have shoulder surgery, and was ruled out of the bowl game anyway. So we were screwed whether he waited or not...
As far as I know you'll be facing a full squad from Wake Forrest. But they don't have a very good defense and that's being kind. So might not need a QB to score some polnts. I haven't seen a list of players opting out of bowl games. The Irish have 2. But I expect the number will be significant for some teams. Georgia and Florida both had a lot of Seniors opt out last year, which was one of the reasons OU looked so good in the Cotton Bowl and Cincy had a tight game with UGA.
Hmmm, some folks are implying Haynes King has been cleared to practice/play. If so 2 weeks of practice would be huge heading into next season.
This probably. has more to do with the UCF fans that the Gator fans. They badly want to beat the Gators. I think they have a pretty good chance with the turmoil our program is going through. But I also think we have the right guy in place to right our ship.
That's true Scott too Scott but I do think there are more UCF fans interested in this game than Gators. Been a season that a lot of us want to forget. I think there will be more UCF fans there than Gators.
Tomorrow is Signing Day, 15th through the 17th is the window for football players. I've read that almost 80% of the players sign in Dec now. Some have said that there might be fewer this year because of all the coaching changes and most of the coaches haven't filled out their staffs and kids don't know who their Coord will be or their position coach so they might wait till Feb when all of that is sorted out.
Not a real surprise, RB Isaiah Spiller has declared and will skip the bowl. Thankfully we have the luxury of Devon Achane to take the ball...
