Both Mich and Louisville just dominated their opponents today. We have a very nice Final Four group, which is always better when there is a cinderella like Wichita State in the mix. Of course they have to play Louisville so it could be a short run. It really looks like a Mich/Louisville Final doesn't it? I remember reading a post by Bobda when UM lost a bunch of games in a row and he seemed to think UM was just not physical enough to get through the bruising play of the B1G. I think they copied that and put it up on the wall in the lockeroom!
Thanks for the wishes of good luck but we needed a lot more luck than we had today. I guess I was confused because I went by this comment from you about Ohio State. Regardless we both went to the Elite 8 which is an accomplishment.
Well, we were a 5 seed for the B10 conference tourney and a 4 seed for the NCAA so I guess there may have also been others who also thought our style of play might be better suited for out of conference play than B10 play. But, I am elated. I thought just making it to the Sweet 16 would be the mark of a successful season. Everything since Kansas is now French chocolate silk pie regardless of how things end up next weekend.
I suppose someone could point out that 2 BE teams made it to the Final Four but then we'd have to hear about how many games the Big 10 won in the first round.
Hard to make any coherent argument about the conferences and this tourney when there is so much parity. I thought before the playoffs began that the BE had two team that looked like FF teams. Louisville and Georgetown. Syc looked pretty mediocre late in the season but once the tourney started, they have blown out 4 teams in a row. Out of the B10 teams, I thought Indy was the B10's best bet followed by Wisconsin and OSU. In hockey, I thought both NDs were Frozen Four locks. Given that Yale made the FF, I guess we need some Ivy League SB posters to do some hockey chest bumping.
Some that follow ND Hockey thought that the CCHA was the weakest it has been in years this year and that as a result ND was overrated compared to WCHA and Hockey East foes. Biggest upset of the tourney? Louisville women took out unbeatable Britney Griner and Baylor. I thought for sure Baylor would win handily again this year. 2 womens #1 seeds are gone..Stanford was also beaten by UGA.
Bobda, on my way back to Indy from Chicago last week, I pulled off in Merrillville where I-65 intersects with U.S. 30. About 1/4 mile east of I-65 on U.S. 30 is a Baker's Square, where I purchased a French Silk Pie, clearly one of the items on the menu in heaven. Believe it or not, it's the closest Baker's Square to Indy. Re: conferences. Here's something to consider. Three of the elite 8 were current or future ACC teams. Half of the Final Four are future ACC teams (Syracuse in 2013, Louisville in 2014).
For those that didn't see it... if you have a weak stomach, don't look here. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Os7HP7F60vo" frameborder="0"></iframe>
TOK, So were those same people claiming that the ECAC was the best conference in college hockey this year? ND had an excellent team this year regardless of whether this was an up or down year for the CCHA. Sid, Anne made the mistake of boxing and taking home a piece of FSCP she ordered at brunch today. Before she goes to bed, she probably is going to open the fridge for a late night snack and find out it has been consumed. It's a dog-eat-pie world at our home when it comes to dessert.
TOK, re FCSP, I will need to scour the net to find out if there is a company that sells it via Internet since I think it would need to be refrigerated until serving.
also, I do not know if it called silk chocolate or chocolate silk pie. My brain locks onto word chocolate and forgets to register the correct word order.
Tom, the thing that is so stunning is the severity of the injury from what seemed to be a routine basketball play. Hopefully, given his age and good medical care, his bones will be able to be fused and he will make a full recovery.
Well its Michigan vs Louisville for the title. Both games were exciting. I thought for awhile that the Shockers were going to pull the upset. Same thing for Syracuse, but in the end both Mich and Louisville were the best teams. Congrats to Boba!
