I'm off to the golf course in a few minutes, wanted to take the time to wish my Marine Husker Fan good luck with today's game, it is his birthday weekend after all!!   While it was tempting to send my little buddy to him as a jinx, I decided that given his move I didn't want to risk the bad mojo flowing over on to his personal life, so I'm keeping him here at home and will watch the game with him. I am reassonably certain his bad mojo, he is nicely decked out in Neb Red today, will be strong enough to reach all the way to Memorial Stadium Lincoln!  Bo says hey!
Well what I said had to happen did happen. We stopped the running game and there were no Kansas State like gaps in the Texas defense, that put a lot of pressure on Martinez and he put the ball on the ground. Force 'em to throw and good things will happen, who knew Husker WR's had hands of stone. I did have a heart attack when ole Mack got too smart and pooched the ball and the coverage unit covered like well Neb certainly wouldn't do anything...except of course run it back down our throats for a TD. But then I thought Pellini did him one better when he lined up and did a onside kick which gave us the ball back inside their 50. Has to be a tough loss for my buddy A.J.
It was a good game plan. I have no idea why they would try an onside kick....it still doesn't make sense 12 hours later. Very good plan by TX. In reviewing the game again, it was almost like the ISU loss last year....we beat ourselves. 3 maybe 4 critical dropped passes that could have lead to scores. Oh well, congrats to TX, they wanted it more. Time to focus on the B12N title and get back to the CG game. Missouri and Okie State will be tough tests coming up.
Mizzou is not nearly as good as we made them look. There is running room against their defense. OSU's defense is also suspect...
To emphasize what a defensive game this was. Texas 4-16 for 62 yds passing and 46 rushes for 209 yds Neb 8-21 for 77 yds passing and 44 rushes for 125 yds. Key was Texas defense stoping a team that was avg over 300yds rushing/game and forcing turnovers. Texas offense just had to not make mistakes and take advantage when they got the opportunity.
Hey....if I can tolerate....even grow to like a Big Red fan that knows how to rub in one of the most painful losses in UF history without me actually hating the guy then those fans must be pretty cool. 8)
Interesting, Huskers are selling (auctioning) the game worn jersey's from the Texas/Neb game. I would have thought they'd maybe take them out back and pour some gasoline on them and burn those suckers!! Husker Jersey's
