I'm feelin' better... Corso picked the Gators. The Wonder Buck picked Tennessee. I'd feel great if they both picked the Gators, but I'm glad that Florida gets the "Curse of the Corso". That guy can't pick his nose, much less a winner!
Florida is looking very good offensively in their first possession. The TD pass was way too easy. Tennessee needs to answer and Defense needs to stiffen up. The problem so far is the stoppage of play twice in the first possession to review plays that were not overturned. Florida 7 - 0 early
We are still marching on our first possession but at what cost? #11 Justin Hunter may be lost at least for the game with a left knee injury. That is the 1 in out 1 - 2 punch in the pass offense.
Could be a long game. Offense stalls and settles for a 37 yard field goal attempt... wide right. First series goes to the Gators.
At least we held them to a field goal in their second possession. Maybe the defense is figuring out the Florida schemes.
Maybe we will wake up in the second half.Giving the Gators the ball our own 13 yard line due to a blocked punt can't be a good thing to start the second quarter.
The defense holding them to another field goal after that starting field position is a win for our defense. Florida 13 - Tennessee 0
Kes, For the last two drives before our scoring drive, I have been scaring the crap out of the Cockatoo in the room yelling "Throw the F'in ball!!!" We have three good and one great receiver left. Hunter will be missed in this game but we don't live and die by his play only. Tennessee drives down the field THROWING THE F'IN BALL to score a TD. The strength of our offensive team is the arm and brain of #8 Tyler Brey. We used both in that drive and scored. The defense just stopped Florida again. Unless they get cute on 4th down, we will have the ball back with a little less than a minute left in the half. Florida 16 Tennessee 7
Tennessee drives but can't score again. The Tennessee offense is looking like I expected them to in the last few minutes of the half. The defense has been adjusting since the second Gator drive. I have renewed hope that my one point in the contest may be saved! 8)
At the end of the 3rd quarter, our long snappper, Stone, has forgotten how to snap the ball. There has been glimpses of this all game but he has just put 4 straight long snaps on the ground causing 2 sacks of Brey.
Bill stated: MCG stated: Both underestimated the Gators' potential but called our score pretty well so far... at least with 7 minutes left. Vols are negative in rushing yardage and missing the #1 receiver. I'm surprised that the score is not worse. Congrats Gators.
I will say this, your QB has done a good job picking the snap off the ground and turning it into a positive play....
Young? Maybe. No excuses. Tennessee just made too many mistakes against a formidable opponent. The main positive I can take from this game is: There is no "quit" in this team. Last year, Dooley said that the team quit competing. Behind all game, they played their hearts out in this one. Go Vols!
