The heart and will to win...i can agree with that. I truly hope the kid develops into something special, but greatness usually takes more than heart and drive.
Denver was 1-4 without tebow, true, but they lost 23-20, 17-14, and 49-23. Their win was 24-22. Looks to me like they had better offensive production with the other qb. 3 out of four games over 20 points vs. 4 out of 12. And the defense held the opposition to less than 20 1 out of 4, vs. 6 out of 12 at the end. Everything depends on the defense. Denvers team does NOT revolve around tebows abilities or lack thereof. The only thing you can say tebow is better is that he doesnt turn the ball over as often, though he has struggled also at times with that.
Actually Peyton Manning's first season was the 3-13 record I listed above. By comparison in his first 15 starts Tebow is 9-6.
Right now you just can't make a case that Tim Tebow has a great future as an NFL QB. He's had a magical year so far and that's about all you can say.
Talk about a great call....on 22 previous 1st downs in the game the Broncos ran 21 times. The Steelers were all within 4 yds of the line of scrimage waiting to stuff a option type of run. It never came.
I'll take your word for it that his last throw was about a perfect a throw as could have been made. Although, I would want a qb for the millions I pay him to be able to do that more than once a game. or, even better, how about putting the ball where his receivers can catch the ball at least half the time.
Always a couple of drops like yesterday....sometimes more with those receivers and he had several nice throwaways instead of taking sacks because he is so mobile. And yet....just listen to Merrill Hoge tell you how he was "only" 10 of 21......
Like him or not he has probably already paid for his salary in just new interest and media attention for the Broncos and the NFL..
"Tebow's 31.6 yards per completion Sunday were the second-most ever for an NFL quarterback in the regular season or playoffs, surpassed only by Joe Namath's 33.7-yard average against Baltimore in September 1972." Hmmmm...not bad for a guy who isn't accurate...
Not only were most of his completions long downfield throws....even the 80 yarder was at least a 20 yard completion.....but you have to account for the times like on his 8 yard TD run that other Qbs would be dumping off an easy to complete...percentage bumping screen pass in situations like that because they don't call designed runs for themselves as does Tebow. Another example of that was the 5 first downs he ran for instead of throwing those short completions for the first downs.
There is no question that Tebow can really stress a defense with his running capability. I've seen better passers but I've seen worse as well. I give him a puncher's chance against the Pats because of what he can do and the fact that the Pats D is just so-so. He will have to do a lot though because Brady will shred the Broncos.
40 points....just like the first meeting....will be too many for Tebow to overcome on the road. ( guess he should play better defense from what I understand... ).... In any event the wildcard is the Bronco defense. If they bring it totally...confound and slow Brady to maybe 24 points then I could see Tebow eeking out 27 for the W.
