Thanks for the thoughts..... really appreciated.
I have no choice but to right the ship.

I might wind up selling boats instead of trucking them. To that end I spoke with the president of Carver Marquis Yachts today who is from Detroit and whom I have met at one of the boat shows a few times...
and alas they also are going through a tough cuts kind of time. Oh well there goes that card up the sleeve.....

I worked a job for a boat dealership in my early late teens, early 20s. I used to haul boats off the back of an F350 and briefcases full of cash between the different dealerships. (They owned 3; Claremont, Newport Beach and Burbank) Every day I made the route from Claremont, to Burbank, to Newport Beach and then back. I was so young and stupid at the time, I never stopped to think about what I was actually doing there. If someone was interested in test driving the boats at one of the dealerships, I was the one who got to take them out. I could go on and on about all the things I used to do there that, in hindsight, was very dangerous. The least of which was dating the secretaries that worked there who the sales staff was interested in. The point of this ramble is, stay away from the boat game. :)

So you took people out with no Captain's license? I see liability issues there.
I have traveled up the coast from San Diego several times over the past 10 years stopping in places like Shelter Island Boat Yard in San Diego, Basin Marine in Newport Beach and The Boat Yard in Marina Del Rey and seeing many boat dealers and manufacturers in between.
Getting out and away from desk and phone was always the best part of the job.

I was always more concerned with the fact that I'd be handling briefcases full of cash every day between the dealerships. But yeah, legality wasn't a real big issue there. I'm fairly sure it was a front for either drugs and/or organized crime.

That just smacks of an NCAA violation waiting to happen.
