After seeing it three times actually... Two times in person as you stated and once against Florida. What's that??? Nebraska just scored again... in three different games! :?
Thank you Sid. 108 days This one is from a few years ago but it still means something to the fans that wear orange... the right color of orange that is! <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/5JF1-uSRFuY&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en&feature=player_embedded&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/5JF1-uSRFuY&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en&feature=player_embedded&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
I asked this about John Ward earlier and nobody answered. This screw up happened at the end of the "Miracle Comeback" at South Bend. With almost no time left on the clock, I still remember Lou Holtz grabbing the kicker by the face mask giving him a pep talk before he went out to kick the winning field goal. I can also remember John Ward's call on that kick. "The ball is placed, the kick is up, and it is GOOD!.... ..... ..... No?... IT IS NO GOOD... IT IS NO GOOD! Tennessee wins at Notre Dame!" It appears that John made the assumption that the comeback was for nothing. The kick was an easy one. Bill Anderson later stated that he saw the Tennessee team cheering and looked over at John with an inquisitive look. John then changed his call. The funny thing about this is that it is a well known fact that Bill Anderson liked the Tennessee sippin' whiskey more than Majors. Bill, the color announcer, was usually intoxicated by the end of the games leaving John to do all the work. You would hear a lot out of Bill at the beginning of the games but toward the end, what little you heard was a little slurred. This intoxicated lush figured it out before John did that the kick was no good.
One small but significant point on that last kick....Craig Hentrich our regular kicker and one of the best in the country was injured on the late in the 1st half of the game. The kid who attempted that last kick had never kicked before in a game, if it would have been a healthy Craig Hentrich then I have no doubt the Irish would have won on the last kick. But them's the breaks!
I seem to remember that as well. Never like to see anyone get hurt from our side or the opposition. These are young kids and after all, this is just a game for the enjoyment of the fans. Health s much more important than the win.
Wow...Kiffen has to have set some sort of record for offering of recruits. According to this he's offered 187 recruits. That's incredible. I think most schools offer somewhere in the range of 60 kids. I don't see how you can manage 187 offers. I mean that has to include a lot of kids who you really only want if your 1st or 2nd choice goes some place else. So what do you do when you make that offer to a kid who's you really only want under certain circumstances but he says YESSSS!!! right then and there? Tenn Offers The link has the list of all offers. It's not a Tenn site that I can tell. Tom can either you or Aquilla confirm 187?
Let's suffice it to say that it's too many to count.... http://www.volnation.com/eric/Master_List.html This isn't what you would call official I don't guess but it's a list compiled by a prominent poster who scoured the prospect lists on Rivals and Scout. Impressive indeed. I'd be happy with most guys from this list. The article does point out a valid concern however when it talks about what may happen if some of the players further down the list begin to commit and then the top players decide they want to come. What gives?? Especially considering this.... http://mrsec.com/story/andy-staples-sec-ends-oversigning-recruits-could-lead-to-nationwide-ban Goodbye to the days of coaches like Houston Nutt signing 30+ players per class. Things just keep getting more interesting in the SEC...
Tried to post this earlier but couldn't get Skybox to respond. I believe the thought process is that an offer is not a commitment in either direction until it is accepted. When a certain position is filled, the other offers will be withdrawn. Gives incentive for kids to make up their minds earlier and not drag it out. \\Of course, this could bite us if we have several Chrissy Simms like kids that back out at the last minute.
