It looks the boycott is based on the premise that it should be socially permissable for a group of young men to gang bang a drunken coed. Suspect more that a few Minnesota alumni disagree. http://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/18294618/minnesota-eric-kaler-says-player-suspensions-alleged-gang-rape-based-university-values
Wow...they don't really have a case and are lucky that they haven't been charged with Gang rape. Baylor's handling, or not handling of this stuff is what caused them all their problems. The Minn coach has been standing by his players publically, he must not have had all the information. He better change his tune or he'll be out as well.
Minnesota players reverse course: team is going to the Holiday Bowl. http://www.thedailygopher.com/2016/12/17/13994110/minnesota-football-players-end-boycott-of-football-activities
Down goes Cougar High. Can't say I'm sad about that. Wonder how much Ed Oliver is enjoying that commuter school now?
There are teams out there that hung their hat on beating Houston... what did they wind up being? A 4 loss club that got whacked in their bowl game?
Corey... not only 4 loss, but they got housed by SMU! Every team comes out flat sometimes, but SMU?
Houston's loss yesterday was a shocker to me. Not the way one would like the season to end. I think he will be successful at Texas, but time will tell.
My bowl picking is like my golf game. On the first tee, I impress everyone with a long, straight drive. By the end of the round, I've shown that I'm a less than average golfer.
McCaffrey is not going to play for Stanford in the bowl game. Want's to spend his time getting ready for NFL combine.
Yeah while I understand that 1) there are too many bowl games and except for the CFP they are all exhibitions. 2)desire to avoid the injury like what happened to Jaylon Smith. But I'd hate to see it as a trend. I mean using his logic really any player who is leaving to attempt to make it in the NFL should not bother to play in a bowl game to concentrate on getting ready for the Combine or their Pro Day and avoid injury in a meaningless game.
Terry, The only way this will not become a trend is if it results in some kind of negative influence on draft position. Hell Fournette took half the season off for this reason.
I remember that my dad took me to the 1989 Freedom Bowl between Washington and Florida. Washington beat on Emmitt Smith like he stole something and jumped out to a 20 point lead. Looking at his body language, he appeared to just quit on the field. For a guy who proved so much, and then went onto NFL greatness, he just looked ordinary. I think that goes a long way to showing what can happen with top flight NFL talent when they don't want to be there. Washington went on to hold Smith to 17 yards on 7 carries, matching his lowest output of his career which came as a freshman. The Huskies went on to win 34-7 and both teams finished 7-4. Oddly enough, this was to be the last bowl game between a Pac10 and SEC team until the BCS title game between Auburn and Oregon 20 years later. It's a shame those teams don't meet in bowls more often. But back to the point, if one of the great HOF RBs can look like that, then is there really any point in him being out there? http://articles.latimes.com/1989-12-31/sports/sp-378_1_emmitt-smith
