Guys, I am not saying this because of anything that is presently happening. I just want you to remember when I started running the contest years ago, it did not start out smooth. Cut Don some slack if things happen.

What brought this up, you might ask?

I am reminded of one of my favorite M.A.S.H episodes in season 8. Radar goes home and Klinger takes over as company clerk. Nobody was happy with Klinger because he was trying to do things like Radar did and failed. He had to be convinced by Father Mulcahy to do things his own way before he became good at his duties. Mulcahy told Colonel Potter about how they had this inept clerk before Potter got there. Part of the way through the conversation, Potter realizes he is talking about Radar who Potter had been throwing in Klinger's face.

Don, do things the way you see fit. Report out the same way, your way, or no way at all. Make it your work... not mine.

I'm not in. I'm too discouraged. Waiting for pitchers and catchers...

Minnesota suspends 10 players for the Holiday Bowl ....sort of makes it a lock for Wazzu if they show up to play.

Doc T, I guarantee there will be a team in uniform at the Holiday Bowl. Beyond that, I make no guarantees.

Wow, now the Minnesota players are threatening to boycott the bowl unless they get some answers from the Minn Pres and AD.

Wazzu might have to have an intrasquad scrimmage!

Although I can't imagine Minn players actually going through with it, it would be unprecedented.

Looks like a FUBAR situation in Minnesota.

That article seems to make it unlikely that the team will go to the Holiday Bowl. I can't imagine the Minn administration giving in to all those demands, especially the one where all 10 players are reinstated.

What a mess. It's too late to grab another team, and even it they did it'd have to be a 5-7 team.

Looks like NIU might enter the picture, not fair to them either in my opinion!

I wonder what the Holiday Bowl is thinking?

I also wonder what the legal ramifications are with regards to Minnesota's relationship with the B1G and the B1G's contract with the Holiday Bowl.

If the players hold fast and won't go, Minn can't afford to terminate all their scholarships...they are really in a bad spot.

It would seem to me that the appropriate thing to do would be to terminate the scholarships, but that would open up a huge vacuum in the football program that would affect the school and the Big10 for years to come. Certainly a very tough situation.
