They don't need to recruit CA? Absurd. One of our favorite topics for the past year in the office is the 'chinks in the armor' at USC. Nothing big, but it is the 'death by a thousand cuts' thing that bleeds away their talent and the Poodle was too stupid to realize what and how they really built the empire to start with. Washington with Sark will hurt them... Slick Rick really hurt them this year. Say what you want about Charlie, but in terms of recruiting, you should all kiss his ginormous ass for (if nothing else) keeping Clausen, Crist, Te'o inc all OUT of Trojan uniforms. It will be interesting to see if USC can put that wall back up.
true.. WA, OR, etc are not CA. We could spend less time chasing mormons in UT and more time chasing Catholic school kids in CA who have schools with long traditions of sending kids to ND. My bad though and point taken..
Terry, Chuck Heater was already the co DC. He could become the DC, McCarney could be be elevated to co coordinator or someone hired from outside to be co coordinator. I am surprised that we could lose a coordinator that fast. Seems he's been friends with Chan Gaily for a long time.
How about the 13 year old youngster, who has just committed to USC, for the class of 2015? Story on ESPN website today.
Watch his video, pretty impressive for a 13y/o and his coach is the same guy who developed Matt Barkley and Jimmy Clausen. Coach says he might be better than either of them. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/NUb8F8Ltru0&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/NUb8F8Ltru0&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> Still ridiculous although Chris Leake committed to Wake Forrest as an 8th grader. Of course he didn't stay with that committment but they were right about him, he was the #1 QB as a HS Sr.
Leak is probably a good example of what can happen between 13 years old and college. He was a great High School QB and a very good college QB. However he was not a great college QB. His size and arm strength were against him making it in the NFL. I would bet Kiffen is even still at USC when this kid goes to college.
Elated......he pulled the Gator helmet out of the bag at the Army game and I was jumping for joy. He also immediately proclaimed that he would win a national title at Fla....and to his immense credit he did just that.
How long before you went from "elated" to get the #1 QB in the class to "very functional" evaluation?
He was "very functional".....and pretty accurate and a helluva competitor. About all you could ask but he was not in the same league as a Tebow.....and probably better than I am giving him credit for. Some of his talents are in retrospect masked by the coaching philosophy changes during his time at Qb......Zook to Meyer.
Terry, I was elated when Leak committed and very happy with him as the Gator QB. However he never rose to the level of Heisman contender and super star like Tim Tebow and Vince Young. Some Gators cooled on him during his career and I think it's because they expected him to be a super star and he was only very good. In these days of the internet experts that's about all it takes. Very functional was MCG's words, I looked on him as very good but still not in a league with Vince Young or Tim Tebow. And that is not an insult, only a very few reach those levels.
