A slight diversion from the ND talk. According to Rivals, IU has the 42nd-ranked class nationally and the 6th-ranked B!G class. That's a huge jump from prior years. We'll see in a few years if it pans out.
The SEC must be doing pretty well. According to Rivals, Tennessee is 20th in the nation and we have 9 SEC schools with better classes so far. The worst class in the SEC, Missouri, is 48th
Folston <r>O.K., here we got:<br/> <br/> Tarean Folston has signed. <E></E> <E></E> <E></E> <E></E> <E></E> <E></E> <E></E> <E></E></r>
Small class for Texas, several of our biggest verbals leaked away at the end. Ricky Seals-Jones to A&M, Duncan Symthe to ND, and A'Shawn Robinson to Alabama. Mack offically and clearly on the hot seat now.
I hope Folston sticks, rumor is that he was wavering on ND with Auburn coming up fast but they ran out of spots for him. But Folston is a big time talent/playmaker who could contribute next year.
ESPN still has UF at #1....updated with 28 signees: http://insider.espn.go.com/college-sports/football/recruiting/classrankings Ohio State and Alabama are right behind. Meyer is not surprising me in the least.....always a very strong recruiter and then there is the success and mystique of Saban. I am actually very impressed with Muschamp for more than holding his own.
Even Zooker could get top rated classes to UF, I think a dead cat could recruit a top 10 class to UF..esp given all the talent in Fla. But Muschamp was a great recruiter when he was at Texas so I'm not at all surprised that he has continued at UF.
Agreed that UF should be fairly simple....but the in-state competition is tough with FSU and Miami and then Ga., LSU and Bama always snipe across our state borders. If you stumble it can result in average ranked classes like 15-20.... That said....I'll bet even I could recruit a top 30 class to Florida... RE: the Zooker.....he was actually a damned good recruiter....the Illini screwed up by letting him go.
Ole Miss ? Is everyone on the team driving an Escalade? Diamond implants in their teeth? I guess we'll have to wait for the book! 8)
Alabama is now ranked #1. I'm not shocked that Dave would jump in midday when UF was #1 to post that. Next thing you know, he'll be citing that top ranking in months to come. Personally, I'm hoping for a car chase involving the kid's mom who took off with his LOI to prevent him from signing with Arkansas.
Buckeyes get late day commitment from St. Louis Running Back Ezekiel Elliott Commits to OSU. There was some who thought he might jump to Missouri in the waining moments. That makes a total of 26 LOI for Ohio State. We definitely are in the top three classes.
That was a cheap shot and I must say I am not shocked. Look at MCG's post time, it is 4:11 which I think was really 3:11 which was not midday as far as the LOI's were concerned but pretty much late in the process. And Florida had been ranked #1 prior to today and pretty much all day until Bama got a late commitment that put them over the Gators. I could give a rats a$$ who is ranked number 1 as long as we got what we needed which we did. But in a lot of posters minds here piling on MCG, which I have to admit he frequently deserves, seems to take precedence over an objective analysis. And that remark was certainly not objective. Congratulations to the Notre Dame fans on a great class.
Thank you Bill.... I didn't even realize Corey was being such a jackass about it....didn't see his remark. I think at the end of the day UF is solidly in the top 3 or 4 depending on where you look and with the two late additions getting the class up to 28 I am surprised Bama could overtake them. In any event being top 5 in recruiting ultimately is a lofty goal that will almost always pay dividends down the road.
