Terry, I missed the game as well... I saw that video and it is really beyond belief...my only thought was that maybe this was one of those rare times where the ref actually caught the first instigator and not the responder. Maybe the ref just saw it from a funny angle and missed the shove. The Penn State player does kind of cut over and, while moving, gets his left arm into Williams. Still....
Terry, yes injuries have hurt the Gators a lot this season. Also suspensions and a lack of team chemistry. One of our players, Chris Walker, was supposed to be a one and done but has never been the player that was expected. There are rumors that the NBA will be after Donovan after this season again, but I am hoping he will stay. I still have my college slide rule from the 50's. I took it to my math class a couple of times and they had no idea what it was.
Still got mine...it's a Post with a leather case...with my home address from 1969 when I bought i...that was from when you used to carry them around and might lose them.
Wow Syracuse just got hammered by the NCAA. Boeheim loses 108 victories, and is suspended for 9 ACC games next year, that's half the season. 3 basketball scholarships a year for the next 4 years. I wonder if Boeheim will quit/retire. http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/12432471/ncaa-suspends-jim-boeheim-nine-games-cuts-syracuse-orange-scholarships
Scott, forgive me for not responding earlier but thanks. Your coach sure had the right strategy at the end fouling our poor free throw shooting guards and almost pulled it out. We get Kentucky at Kentucky today. I don't see us having much of a chance. And wow did Syracuse get hammered. I do have to say that I agree with Syracuse that there is no way it should take eight years to complete an investigation.
I didn't realize it took that long. Boeheim of course says they ignored his life long committment to the rules and that it was really only 2 people one a booster from a local YMCA and the other a low level staffer. He's going with the Sgt. Schultz defense that he knew nothing. Same as Butch David/Roy Williams are doing at UNC with their problem. I wonder how long it'll take them to get around to punishing UNC.
Not too much of interest or importance to the NCAA tourney going on, but still a lot of Sr. days and those are always big for the fans/players. I see that Wisc goes to Columbus to face the Buckeyes, should be a good game. Clemson comes to ND, we should win. Texas host's KSU and must win. Rumors that Tom Crean will be out at IU tempered by rumors of a 12M$ buyout for him. ...so I think he'll be back. Womens Conference tourney's will finish up this weekend. I don't know if the women will be starting their tournament a week ahead of the men, that would seem logical. But they have in the past sort of run at the same time just different days of the week.
Well the Gators are 15-15 with the last regular season game coming up with Kentucky. there is a very real chance we end up with a losing record this season. The Kentucky game is almost a lock for us to lose then we would have to go win 2 games in the conference to not have a losing record. That would involve making the final game. Not likely to happen.
Texas beats KState, it's the finish they needed to at least have a shot. Still will have to win a couple of B12 tourney games to get off the bubble. Rick Barnes job is still on the bubble, names that are being tossed around are Billy Donavan, the Wichita State coach, the Akron coach and of course Shaka Smart.
Boilers beat Iowa after terrible first half. Last two minutes of first half and first few minutes of second half were the turnaround. We should be in the tourney now (20 wins, tied for 3rd in B1Gwith a 12-6 record) but there are those who have said that we would still be on the bubble with that record because of our losses (early) to Gardner Webb and N. Fla. Buckeyes take on Wiscy today to try to also go 12-6. Will Wiscy be complacent now that they've clinched the regular season? Have to root for tOSU but a Wiscy win gives Purdue the #4 seed and the double bye in the tournament.
Not sure why Billy D would leave UF for just about any other college coaching job. He has turned Florida into a "basketball" school during his time.... a destination for AA players. Not quite the same destination as Kentucky for those type players but over the past 10 to 15 years he has UF competing very favorably with the Cats for SEC supremacy teamwise. He's a living legend at Florida. He could yet jump to the NBA but I don't think that he does.
Dave I'd agree, that I have a hard time thinking he would leave for another college job. I guess if Texas offered to make him the highest paid coach in college that might be tempting. Texas has a lot to offer, will have a brand new arena in a few years, basketball in Texas has grown tremendously on the high school level so there is plenty of talent and Austin is an attractive place for kids. But I'm sure that UF could make him a very competitive offer if it came to money.
Lunardi has Texas as in the play in game vs Temple, He also has Purdue in as a #11 seed. Irish a 3 seed in the Midwest.
Irish face Miami tonight in the ACC Quarterfinals. We'll be slight favorites, a win will solidify us as a #3 seed from everything I read. Loss could drop us to a #4 seed.
Texas got the win last night vs Texas Tech, and it was a good win. I think this team if it plays up to it's potential could beat Iowa State tonight. We might be in no matter what, but play well and win and it's a done deal.
Wow Texas coughs up a big lead and goes scoreless in the last 5 minutes.... Then ISU gets the buzzer beater shot to win. Might have cost us the bid. Time was running out and for some reason we don't press them, time probably runs out before they get the shot off and we go to OT.
