honestly <t>if I am Rodgers, I'd demand a trade or my outright release...<br/> <br/> <br/> I would want in at Minnesota or Chicago in the worst way.. both teams are better than the Packers everywhere but QB..</t>
Bret Favre is back? Was this on the news or ESPN? I just can't believe a story this big has not been covered extensively. It would seem with nothing but baseball, the onset of the NFL preseason, the Olympics, and the upcoming PGA there would be some time to allow a story or two on Bret. Sometimes I really wonder about the priorities in the media :?
They were talking about how this really screws over Aaron Rogers from a $$$ standpoint. His contract is heavily loaded with incentive clauses that if he's not the starter this year he'll never meet them and he'll have to get by on 640K this year. Terry
Poor guy. No, in all seriousness, I think this entire fiasco is really ruining any chances Rodgers had of succeeding in Green Bay. This kid better hope he can somehow throw 30 TDs and win 13 games this year or the cheeseheads won't be happy, IMO.
I thought their drafting of Brohm was a bit curious anyway. At the time, it made me think they're not as sold on Rodgers as I thought. However, sticking with Rodgers through this Favre mess makes me think they do like Rodgers a lot. My thing is, why not go ahead and gauge interest in trading Rodgers and let Favre stay another year. You have Brohm to fall back on if he retires after this season. It may not be pretty once Brohm steps on the field next year but sitting a year is a convenience that not many rookie QBs have. I don't see an easy way out of this mess and if you think MCG's Big 10 arguments beat a dead horse, wait til the media gets finished with this one. The horse will be beaten beyond all recognition.
Following up on Aquila's reasoning, I heard this morning that there are several teams who have not yet named a starting QB for the first regular season game. I would think that Rodgers would have an opportunity with some team if he loses the starting position to Favre at GB. On the other hand, maybe he's happy where he is and is willing to wait a bit longer. Who knows? Who cares?
Good read about this entire mess: http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_y...lug=ms-favrerodgers080508&prov=yhoo&type=lgns I especially like this particular quote referring to the maturity with which Aaron Rodgers has handled this whole thing:
