Very true.. Auburn's defense is stout.. at least in the trenches, but Oregon will make them play 3dimensional defense.. They've been a 1 D defense so far this year.. Also, USC's offense and Oregon's offense are really apples/oranges... even then, let's not forget. Texas won that game with Vince Young... That Texas defense didn't contain anything. The final score was 41-38. Leinart threw for almost 400 yards against Texas. I think he may have ruined his arm for his NFL career because he wore it out that night Reggie Bush had like a combined 175 yards in that game rushing/receiving.
Terry, I'm with ya. The kid is special. I think he's the best player. I think he's better than Tebow and it's not even close. That being said.. Do I think he's a better person than Tebow? It's not even close...And for someone to tell me, or anyone that they should have their qualifications and competency questioned for simply holding another viewpoint.... well.. I gotta question the agenda pf the person opening their mouth.
A couple of points. I disagree with Corey, in that Auburns defense is weak. Their DL is okay but their DB/LB's are not good. Newton presents the same threat that Tebow did. He may be a little bit better passer. Corey is correct though in that turnovers/mistakes are the key. Alabama had Auburn beat until Alabama went into a shell in the second half. I predict 62-42 or something like that. I just don't know who has the 62.
KP, I mentioned this earlier as well....not only did he have 30 seconds to find receivers, but when he found them they were running alone in the secondary. At the end of the day, the Cocks are just not an elite team but simply the best of a very average group of teams in the SEC east. I'm not sure they won't need to add digits to the scoreboard for this one. I can't remember two title contenders both having such ordinary defenses. Perhaps the first to 80 wins.....it will be exciting to watch for sure.....
KP, I agree with you actually.. Their front 4 is really good.. Their LBs get lost in coverage but they play the run well. Their DBs are not good at all. I'll be interested to see how they'll handle an offense that will attack them vertically, horizontally etc.
Probably not....TP is a similar player and his offense lit them up last year and this years Newton and the Auburn offense is better than last years Pryor. Our win in last years Rose Bowl gave Auburn the road map on how to beat Oregon. Many believe this years Oregon team to be superior to that version however and I don't don't believe that the Auburn defense is remotely close to being as good as ours.....at least they have not evidenced it thus far. We could be looking at triple digits....seriously....certainly for the over.
KP, I don't think so.. I honestly think that Oregon is going to sell the farm trying to stop him from running the ball and they will put their DBs all on an island daring them to pass. That's my guess. I don't think Oregon cares if you score, they think they are going to score. What Ohio State did was keep control of the ball. Auburn doesn't want to do that. They want to score fast too.
yeah, these are not my kind of teams. They can save on travel...just take 11 players....they don't need no stinkin defense.
